Interesting fact. Meath need to beat down by more than 25 points to lep above them.

13 points, not 25.

Allianz FL2 P W D L Dif Pts
Donegal 5 3 1 1 +25 7
Monaghan 5 3 1 1 +23 7
Down 5 3 1 1 +16 7
Armagh 5 2 1 2 0 5
Meath 5 2 1 2 -9 5
Laois 5 2 0 3 -6 4
Galway 5 1 1 3 -19 3
Louth 5 0 2 3 -30 2

Is this hoganstand table wrong?

With right results going, could mean that Meath with one point win or more will move above Down!!!!

That's right. Score difference only counts if more than two teams are level on points. If Monaghan and Donegal win or draw their matches, and Armagh do not win, then a Meath victory would put them level with Down on 7 points each. As only two of them are on that score then it is head-head not score difference that decides it and Meath would be ahead in the table.

But if Monaghan and Donegal both win then it doesn't really matter for Meath if they beat Down, as Meath would have no realistic chance of promotion. It would require the results for Armagh, down, Monaghan and Donegal all to go in their favour and also around a 20 point turnaround in scores.

Down have named an unchanged team from the Donegal game, but we all know that James often likes a late change on the night. Navan is a great place for a match, and there should be quite an atmosphere under the lights. We had a few memorable battles there in the 80s and 90s, and it is way too long since Meath last hosted us. There is plenty to play for on both sides, and the promotion race will probably go right to the wire.

Its a bit of a worry that Gordon or Rodgers have yet to feature in the league to date. Has anyone any updates on their fitness?

Final Score:

Meath 1:14
Down 1:11

sounded like a hard fought game but we had plenty of possession and probably deserved the win.

Yes watched it on Setanta, Meath deserved the win. Was good to see  Ambrose back and I thought he did ok, J Johnson was lively but missed a lot of chances. I thought Down looked tired the last 15 mins

Division 2 next year now have to use the remaining games to get ready for the championship

Sea The Stars

That's much more like it from Meath ! All of a sudden Meath support can be optimistic again. Let's hope Micko and his team can keep progressing. That's 3 close games, we've had to dig deep in and we won 2 and drew the other.

Another year in Division 2 might not be a bad thing anyway. We will narrowly miss out this season but at least we know we are getting closer to Division 1 standard.

The sooner the League ends anyway, the better, as it's been one injury after another. The break between League and championship will give time for injuries to clear up and the competition for places should be very strong.

Enjoyed the trip and the game. Surprised to hear people saying it was a poor game; in the new style of things I thought it was good. Down seemed to have more support than the Royals, at least in the stand, and pity about no scoreboard. It is always going to be tight between two counties who have begrudging respect for each other, lit up by two clinker goals from Graham Reilly and Ambrose. Both teams can look forward to the return fixture in division two next year.

Main Street

It was a strange game in the last 1/4  after the goals, Meath kept hitting wides/missing points  and Down just kept giving away possession, then Meath hit a few wonderful points to draw clear.
