Quote from: From the Bunker on May 12, 2024, 12:54:50 AMIsrael considered the most hated country in Eurovision... yet ended up with one of the highest volume of public votes.

Your daily reminder that social media is not an accurate reflection of reality.  :-\

Because you can vote for Israel, you cannot vote against Israel.
This is it.  Those supporting Israel all voted for Israel.  Those against Israel either didn't vote or had 20 odd other options to vote for.

It's not that he's a poor pundit - it's that he comes across as a dick. There's always an agenda or a dig. At least if other ones are poor at punditry they come across as decent enough sorts. He doesn't sell himself as either. Be better off without him.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on May 13, 2024, 10:38:17 PMIf the GAA worried about money, they shouldn't done away with Replays, they should spaced out there season better to allow people less expense in short periods of time, the should left the nfl season ticket, with free final included,1st round ticket free, not put games on. with great distance involved not on, in the evenings.

In 2021 congress passed the 'split season' without a vote due to the high volume of support, via the GPA 87% of players were in favour, as a result the Club Players Association disbanded as their objective had been achieved, therefore there was no longer space for replays in the inter county calendar.

There are now extra competitions (eg Tailteann Cup), with extra games (eg the Munster hurling championship in 1998 had 5 games, this year there are 11).

It is not possible that all these games, or even all the good games, or all the games involving the current All Ireland champions in either code can be shown free to air.

Between RTE, BBC, TG4, GAAGO, Clubber (and potentially others) there are now nearly more games available to view than there are hours in the day.

The Cork Limerick thing is just a populist bandwagon, however in all the noise I would agree with Donal Óg (never thought I would say that) in relation to the lesser hurling competitions and there coverage on the 2 main platforms, if the politicians were actually interested in hurling and its growth that's where they would be looking, I don't believe any hurling outside of the Liam McCarthy teams has been shown this year to date, that is a viable argument to get behind imo.

Cavanagh was a great footballer and is a poor pundit.  His tendency to try to be controversial has come back to bite him here.  Burns has him bang to rights. That noise you can hear is him backpedalling.

Quote from: Estimator on Today at 07:11:02 AMGreat angle for Dohertys score. He had no intention of calling a mark.
But something went wrong with the Armagh match ups there. Looked like Hall(?) left Doherty free to cover a man in the middle.

Defo something went wrong and i'm sure that will be well investigated.

On Hall, I just dont get his introduction but maybe that's just me. I think we had better options.

Always loved a good time travel film or book, loved the film About time, very simple approach to what could do with the ability to time travel.

So if you had 3 attempts to travel back in time, with these three options below

  • Go back and have a word with yourself- What would you say?
  • To witness a great/infamous event, be it your own or other event (give reasons)
  • To change something, but beyond your DOB and reasons

I sort of wondered had Rian hurt himself as he was taken off just after he had slipped and gotten up a little gingerly.

I dont think those large scale changes are a good idea at all v Westmeath.  I expect a very tough battle.

The man has a screw loose.  He shouldn't be allowed near these events.

Quote from: thewobbler on May 13, 2024, 01:29:37 PMNot honestly sure I could pick 3 Nirvana songs I like without using the Unplugged album.

Loved Nevermind when it first came out, but Nirvana are just a little too raw, too intense for a soft old chap like me.

Nevermind is a decent album. Bleach is by far their best tho

I dont think so, In Utero was their best for me.

also a very good album and better than nevermind

They could put it anywhere and people would still act the ****. It's human nature. Could have it in ballsbridge and all the poshos would be coming out of the pubs and doing the same.

That said, corner of North Earl Street definitely a terrible location. Shocked it hasn't been vandalised yet.
Porn videos, images of the twin towers being hit, a woman mooning, kids giving the finger while their parents video and laugh... Not so sure that would happen everywhere.
