Totally agree, It's a competition that we can realistically win. Much better than the Leinster Championship for counties like us.
Promotion from Div4 and a real go at this is certainly what we should be aiming for this year. Win that and it would be a great boost to attack the Leinster the following year.

Most certainly could have beaten Westmeath. We were the better team for most of that game but lacked the finish unfortunately.
Should give us a bit of a lift for next year, we're not that far off being a decent team.

Great game tonight with some lovely scores from both sides in the first half and very close into the second half but some very dodgy refereeing decisions went against Graiguecullen and ruined what should have been a showpiece final.
Good win for St Joseph's who looked strong in most positions and hard luck to Graiguecullen who on another day with another referee might have pulled of a win which with their great league run would have been well deserved.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not, the finalists will have played each other 3 times before a winner is found.
1st game was in the 8 team league format, 2nd game in the top 4 team format and 3rd game in the final.

Laois / Laois Senior Football League 2022

The 2022 League has reached the knockout stages, some very interesting games coming up.

The football leagues this year will be played under a new format whereby in the top three divisions the top four teams after the first seven games qualify for a winners group where they will play each other. From that series of games the top two will progress to a final.

The bottom four will play each other with the bottom two relegated. Points from the first seven games do not carry over to the second phase.
The top six divisions in football are all eight-team competitions while Division 5 is split out into four groups with 19 teams entered in total.

In the first three divisions there are two teams promoted and relegated – but only one team up and down from Division 3 on. From Division 3 on, the top four go into the semi-finals with the eventual winner promoted. The bottom team is relegated.

Looking forward to seeing the u20s tonight . Tonight is about getting a result against more than decent opposition  . Thought 15 quid a ticket was a little much for tonight though .

I don't agree, this is basically a new team, lots of young lads on it and it will take time to buy into what the selectors want. We are very impatient as supporters which is understandable but let's give them time.

havent seen the table, but if wicklow and longford win next week are all three of us on the same points?
if 3 teams finish on the same points then in goes to points difference and lowest 2 get the drop

This is from the RTE website, it explains what might happen.

One thing is for sure, at least one Leinster county is dropping down to the bottom division for 2023.

First and foremost, if Laois avoid defeat against Longford, they're safe. If they're beaten then they will be safe if Wicklow fail to beat Louth.

If Laois lose to Longford, and Wicklow beat Louth, then all three counties will end up on five points. The O'Moore men have a big advantage when it comes to scoring difference; don't be surprised if that saves them come Sunday evening.

Yes, you are correct, I assumed it was score difference first but unfortunately not...

As per the Official GAA Guide - Part 1 - Section 6.21[4] -

If two teams in the same group are equal on points on completion of the league phase, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied:

Where two teams only are involved - the outcome of the meeting of the two teams in the previous game in the Competition.

If three or more teams in the same group are equal on points on completion of the league phase, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied:

(1) Scoring Difference (subtracting the total scores against from total scores for);
(2) Highest Total Score For;
(3) A Play-Off.

Wicklow have just done us a big favour, they've beaten Longford by 1 point, 0-20 to 2-13.
