Milan is fine for shopping and it has interesting sights, but to get to Milan you'll have to pass through far nicer places like Padua, Vicenza, Verona etc. Unless you have some particular interest in Milan I wouldn't go that far, you can shop in Ireland.

My sister's wedding is in 4 weeks so was planning on picking up a nice suit, hence heading to milan, where else would u go

Milan aint the place for cheap suits M4S!!  Do a search and see if there any outlet stores near Venice, a lot of the outlet villages in Italy have most of the designer names previous season's stock - i know, that's probably not good enough for a fashion event up in Bangor Erris or wherever, but sure you could give it a lash!
