From what I saw it was minimal contact, we get refereed in such a different way to the other teams.

Looked like McGarry made an ever so slight contact to the lads helmet...

Very harsh indeed.

Quote from: thewobbler on Today at 10:08:42 AMI truly despise how football analysts become cheerleaders for what they want to happen, rather than call it as it is.

A handball that gains a man an advantage has to be accepted a foul, regardless of intent or hand position. If not, they should just abolish the rule completely.

The game commentary team were expecting the goal to be ruled out based on precedent and the fact it had obviously touched his hand, but no, ref looked at the monitor and knew disallowing it would have meant Arsenal had no chance of winning the PL..

Other goals throughout the season have been ruled out for similar.

Quote from: ranch on May 19, 2024, 10:23:19 PMBy all means have them playing league football. There should be a proper reserve championship to accommodate them however. As much as the CE lads would have enjoyed winning a junior championship last year, there was hardly a celebration out of them after they beat Ballyhegan.

As for this year, St Peter's seconds are doing well, only lost one game to league favourites Corrinshego early in the season. Come championship you'd imagine that Forkhill and Middletown would be the favourites if they're at full strength.
That St Peters team will be hard stopped. Yeah probably a tiered league competition for seconds and reserve teams would be best.
Think that's the reason the likes of St Peter's have scrapped reserves and went for Junior football instead. You might get one or two meaningful reserve games a year sandwiched between walkovers and cricket scores. I suppose with junior football you're almost certainly guaranteed the opposition won't cry off at the last minute with something to aim for (promotion & junior championship).
Yeah absolutely, the reserve league is a bit of a joke with teams not fielding and at times fielding very weak teams. Fair play to the Lurgan clubs they've serious numbers by the looks of things.

He has single handidly gone a long way to F*ucking up a serious GAA Blog.
Shame on moderators.
For the past 7-10 years, I would be inclined to come on here to see opinions on games V read the newspapers after a game. Not any more.
A lot of well minded bloggers unfortunately have done likewise.

The scoundrel! Not much to be at of a day when you're at that craic.
I doubt he's Armagh18 though?

Id agree on this

Senior league up an running. Kilrea doing well  ;D Coleraine in a serious diffs. Glen ticking over considering the players they are short. Magherafelt should be doing better. I believe that Loup management have walked. I expect to see the mood change around mid June as team starting lifting their prep for championship. Lavey top in the intermediate league.

Quote from: Mossy Bruce on May 19, 2024, 05:06:44 PMOh, that final is going to be a cracker of a match!!!
I sure hope someone is going to televise it!
Almost certain RTE TV will cover this game ahead of the Leinster Final on June 8th. It'll probably be a 3.30pm or 4pm Irish time throw in with the Leinster Final to follow at 6pm.

I don't know if RTE matches are geo-blocked outside of Ireland Mossy, if you can go to https://www.rte.ie/player/onnow on Sunday from around 2pm Irish time and see if you can watch whatever game is on live.

If it doesn't work for you, then you'll need to look at getting some VPN software which allows you to cloak your location and set it to Ireland. There are plenty of free VPN software to be had at the end of a google search!

Quote from: lurganblue on Today at 09:23:12 AMI saw a snap of the run to the finish line from Arsenal and it was pretty impressive too.  The loss to Villa at home was a killer blow, while the city juggernaut rolled on.

How their second goal yesterday still stood considering there was a blatant handball in the immediate build up to it, is staggering from the referee in particular who was asked to go look at it by VAR, but his balls disappeared up inside him and chose to ignore what was right in front of his eyes.

Those type of rules only apply to the smaller clubs.

I had the match on the radio while I painted the fence :(

The commentary were absolutely raging that it even went to a pitch side check as they said that the "goal scorer didnt handle it, and as it was accidental he didnt seek to gain advantage"... If this is the case then I am totally lost as to the rules of the game now.
