I think all this complaining of GAAGO is a Red Herring. What do the public want? A free meal? There will always be a auld Buck with no internet, no credit card or no smart TV. If you are so concerned about them then invite them over and sort them out. There is a cohort who will always complain about access to coverage.

Personally, I think Hurling gets far to much coverage on Terrestrial TV in relation to it's nationwide popularity. The way Sean Og O'Halpin talks it's as if the whole country has been dis-enfranchised by not showing the Munster Hurling Championship.

Well other commitments meant I couldn't be in Salthill today & I was damn glad for Gaa Go's existence!

Thought Hartes comments after the game were a disgrace. Said he didn't see mckinless incident , but then proceeded to accuse Comer of making a meal of it and theatrics.
It was as  blatant a red card as seen at a game & it more or less ended Comers involvement in the game. McKinless deserves a lengthy ban for it

Very poor from Derry, sending off aside. So flat.
First half us where the game was lost, too many dropped short.

Too many of derrys star players were nowhere to be seen, glass didn't seem interested.

We were chasing the game, lachlan Murray just scored 3 I think, made a score saving tackle and Harte takes him off. Can't see the logic in that.

Galway were good. Should rightly leapfrog derry in the AI rankings and must be in that top 3 tier now.

Didn't listen to the commentary after the game but there can be no defending mckinless.
However,  I did think in general galway got their frees easier than us.

I'm trying to take my Galway hat off here (not easy of course) but I honestly didn't feel that we were getting frees easier.
In terms of scores from frees I'm not sure how many we ended up with but when we had 1-12 on the board only two of those were frees.
I can think of two off the top of my head tap over frees Derry got that were never frees (to me anyway).
McGuigan wins a high ball in first half & doesn't call a mark. He gets shepherded and throws himself down and gets a free.
One in second half (I think number 10) who runs into 2-3 Galway defenders and gets a very soft free.
Anyhow I'm only picking them as examples. The red card changed the game.
Who knows what would have happened if it didn't happen. It was going to be tight regardless

Comers ankle is the big worry going forward.
He had a bad ankle injury a few years back that took him a long time to recover from.
It was a dirty dirty act.
Against 14 men or not - it was a decent performer from our lads.

A complete meltdown, Joyce got into his head from the sideline and he succumbed. Can happen to the best of us.

Embarrassing post. Mayo got absolutely ridiculous decisions from minute 20 to minute 70. Even the Mayo clowns around us were saying it

To be fair I only seen the game from the 58th minute on. And during that short stint - Galway got a ridiculous call against them. After that there was a procession of soft frees to Galway who were chasing the game. I take my beating - Galway won. And I cyberly shake your hand in congratulations. But I can still say Gough really lost the run of himself at a very important juncture.

Croke Park has rarely ever sold out for anything but an All Ireland final. This isn't a new phenomenon.

I love Gaelic football - I have since I can remember.
I'm in my forties now and this is the first year ever that I just can't get excited about the championship whatsoever.
The format has completely fucked it up. I honestly believe the only way forward is to get rid of the provincial championships. It won't happen because the Ulster championship is so strong & competitive. The elephant in the room is that the other three are a complete and utter pile of horse shit.
When a team would be better off losing a provincial semi final (if they were to go on and lose the final) so that they could potentially get a pot two opponent of Louth, Clare or Sligo it says it all.
Dublin & Kerry can sleepwalk into a top seed spot in a group.
It's a completely uneven playing field.
It has to change so that teams of a similar standard are playing against each other and teams such as Dublin & Kerry can't just proceed through to the business end in first gear every year.
I get that they are quality teams and would do well anyway but there's no real peril for them at the moment unlike any of the Ulster teams for example.
Even ourselves last year - once we beat Roscommon we had a handy game against Sligo to get into pot one.
A lot of the games now don't mean a huge pile.

It will take a very good team to stop Mayo winning the minor All Ireland this year.

Yeah I think it's probably a good idea to reward the top team with home advantage.

What I just can't get my head around re this Galway team are the things that we have been poor at/areas we have been weak in for a long time now seem to not even have been worked on.

Kickouts firstly. The "plan" if you can call it that goes like this...
If the opposition don't have a full press and leave one of our full back line free - Gleeson will tap it to them. If the opposition don't leave said corner back free  he literally boots it as far down the field as possible and hopes for the best.
I was watching it very closely today and there was absolutely no deviation from this for the whole game.
Nothing innovative that you would see from other teams who seem able to manufacture space to retain their own kick outs.
And the length of time he takes to actually get the ball on the tee and get the kick away is junior C stuff.

Secondly - the speed of our transition from defence to attack off turnover ball is ridiculously slow.
We slow it down, go backwards and sideways etc. instead of getting bodies bombing forward at pace to take advantage of a disorganised defence. Instead we give them all the time in the world to get organised and start our slow ponderous build up play again.

It's shocking that we're still struggling in these areas of our game.

Hard to describe how poor we were today.
It was daylight robbery.
Missing three great goal chances in the first ten minutes didn't help but Sligo would have been full value for a win today.
Comer was the difference as usual for us.
He's the main man. Walsh might just be the most naturally talented player in the country but he just doesn't deliver on a consistent basis.
For every decent game he has he has another 4 shite ones. He's infuriating.
Pj doesn't get a pass here either.
O Conghaile has been poor in the league and was dire in London, while McCabe has barely played at all for the seniors yet both started today.
Absolutely not on merit.

If we plau like we did today we'll lose the Connacht final by double digits.
