GAA Discussion / Re: Power Rankings
I don't think people are too critical. I'd almost give anyone a bye ball with Dublin (perhaps, incorrectly) but Tyrone have produced enough quality underage teams to be confident against anything else. Last year against Kerry was a fcukin embarrassment. In itself, and because that's a middlin enough Kerry team.

That's true.

And got tanked. Really.

Having failed to win Ulster. Scraping by Monaghan.

And I know it's harsh. But an example of this is the 2021 POTY.

Either way.... 2 games in 2021 are doing some heavy lifting. And that's harsh because winning an All Ireland takes some doing. It's just that those performances were very much the outliers for this squad.

That being the case, why are the GAA, Sinn Féin & all other interested parties not jumping up and down about Lyons? Are they putting any pressure on him at all? I haven't heard it.
All of their focus is on the British Govt. They've written a letter to them, it's all they ever mention.

That doesn't make a lot of sense, barelegs.

You can howl that at the moon for as long as you like, Dougal, but unless someone is going to bail the project out to an eye-watering tune, then an alternative plan needs to be in the conversation.
It appears that the British Govt/Euro 2028 is the last roll of the dice on this and there is still a chance but I think most people would say that it isn't looking good at the minute.

Is Rialtas na h'Éireann really committing €50 million to that scenario?

The message I'm taking from that is that the British Government is delaying the stadium at the minute.
However, are the GAA themselves not in the middle of a tendering process which is delaying it anyway? Is the British Government holding that up? Is there a point in the British Government declaring what they can put forward until the total cost is known?

"I don't think they knew. I think it was a guess at the end of it, that's what it looked like.

"All the boys were saying to me they hadn't a clue. It's just hard. We probably deserved a puckout."

No, Davy, you would have liked a puckout. You certainly didn't deserve one.

Regardless of how he arrived at the decision, the replay clearly shows that it was the correct one and that's all that matters.
Don't know what there is to yap about.

He must believe that Cargin conducted themselves disgracefully also if U15 players assaulting coaches is the threshold for such.
The coaches of both teams acted admirably in very difficult circumstances. Everyone else....well...

Pretty sure you were right.

Quote from: Norm-Peterson on May 12, 2024, 09:25:54 PMI wonder did they ever manage to drag McBrearty off the stand, wittering on for a long time.
Cringey stuff from Niblock too chuckling every time McGuinness did a fist pump.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tyrone beat Donegal in 2 weeks. No great shakes.

Also that is a very posh voice of Thomas Kane for a South Derry person.
Thomas Kane is from Belfast? Could be the reason.

Would have been interesting to see how Twitterati reacted if TK had have scored that mark at the end of normal time.

I think the black card is under utilised in regards to that.

A missed free isn't. And that's the point, you shouldn't be looking at the outcome.
The penalty for committing a foul near your own goal is that the opposition is presented with a scoring opportunity (a free). They are not given a score, just the opportunity to get one. The onus is entirely on them to capitalise on that. If they miss it, tough luck.
The advantage rule should allow them to make use of a better opportunity if it presents itself but again, the onus should be entirely on them to capitalise on it and if they miss it, tough luck.

For me, the main reason for the advantage rule is so that the awarding of a free kick is not a punishment to the fouled team.

And of course it's my opinion.
