This year the GAA in their wisdom(or as a result of Breheny moaning that the draw was too artificial) decided that it will be a totally open draw. That could indeed mean loads of repeat fixtures.
When that happened in 2001 they quickly moved to prevent teams meeting again but have now rowed back.
In Rounds one and two the first team drawn will have home advantage unless their ground doesnt come up to the mark(Louth ?).
Round 3 - venues to be confirmed - prob waiting till they see if they can get an attractive double header in HQ??
As I said before the new arrangements were meant to allow the Counties to play loads of Club Championship games. How many will do so 1 ? 2?
As for the Tommy Murphy -why dont they rename the competition the All Ireland Championship Div 2 ? and try and get it some prestige.

Never read such ill informed stuff as the above(well maybe Election stuff etc).
As decided at LAST OCTOBER'S SPECIAL CONGRESS - this year what happens is -
Div 4 teams Tommy Murphy Cup UNLESS they get to a Provincial Final.
Assuming none of them do -then all the other teams(16) who dont make the Provincial Finals go into the hat for Round 1.
The 8 winners go into the hat for Round 2.
The four survivors meet the Provincial Final losers.
Presumably if the Biffos make the Leinster Final -leaving 17 teams in Qualifiers- 2 teams will have to be drawn out to play to reduce it to 16.

Quite why a Special Congress was needed to make those amendments to the existing system I dont know. Suree anyone working in Croke Park could have amended the system on the back of an envelope.
The gap between the NFL and Provincial Championship and the delay with Round 1 Qualifiers was  to allow Counties time to play loads of Club Championship games during the Summer.

the old SR put in 2m, the new 100k. either way they arent getting a 'free' stadium and have put in a great deal more than TD have offered. no-one outside this internet bubble is claiming Rovers are getting a free ground. its pathetic that even when TD arent trying that line there are legions of mongs on here who refuse to listen to the facts of the case.

For ***** sake the "old Rovers " got a grant of either €1.5 or €1.9m off the Govt. They then charged the South Dublin Council €1.5m to give them back the lease OF THE COUNCIL'S OWN LAND !!!!!.
Now the Council/Govt want to build a Stadium at the public purse's expense which the Shambeggars will walk into !!!
To whom did the "new SH Rovers" give 100 k???
It was hardly to the Council was it seeing as they had to pay the various design people(Architects/Engineers/Q Surveyors a load of arrears they were due from the "old Rovers"
If it is true that
-the GAA(Dublin Co Board) offered to complete the Stadium at no cost to the Council
-but the Council refused and
-would prefer to spend a total of €11m building a Free Soccer Stadium for
-a professional soccer club that sold its own ground 20 years ago and
-couldnt make use of the free site but charged 1.5m to give it back
   Is it not time the Government's Auditor and Comptroller General was called in to investigate.
Or perhaps to save all the GAA people on this board(i e everyone except DF and hoop) from further annoyance maybe the Admin could close this subject.

In case someone else knows. A friend of mine (Albert Fry) won the competetion on Seo Spoirt on TG4 and hasn't recieved any confirmation only that Gemma read it out on the show. How can he claim his prize??

Isnt it wonderful the way these Shamrock Beggars have the cheek to complain about anyone considering that they havent stirred a finger or raised a € to go towards the Free gift they await from Donohoe and the Council Manager.
If they had raised 25% of the cost of building a Stadium on the free site they were given they would be playing there since at least 2002.

to sit around a table to sort out an agreeable outcome?

Senior Managers of a public body should be above writing to papers trying to childishly score points.
If Shamrock beggars had done what ALL other sports clubs do- raise 25% of the cost- the Stadium would have been built by 2003.Wonder why the County Manager's Deputy didnt mention that. Or if the County Manager had asked the Minister to respect the Councillor's original vote the Stadium could be up and running around now.

Then we have the 2 Soccer clowns  saying that if the GAA had less Gaelic games in their own HQ the pitch wouldnt be damaged.

Structured tiers for intercounty championships work grand for hurling and ladies football is introducing them this year. What's the problem for it in mens football?

Agree with Fionn on that comment. Also all Counties have 3 grades of Club Championships -Senior/Inter/Junior.
Realistically there should be 3 tiers/levels or whatever you want to call it of All Ireland Championship - Top 12 or 16,next 8/12 and the rest. The system could be organised on Groups of 4 with gaps between games to allow players time for club games. With a restricted NFL it would be possible to fit in the Provincials which could be used as qualifers for the various tiers.
The Tier 2 and 3 Finals could be a double header in Croke Park with no other Senior Fixtures that day and have all the hype etc.
As for Club fixtures -at present County teams play an average about 13 competitive games a year but the players are training about 100?150? times and Managers are dictating to Co Boards when they can play their Club Championships.This usually means whenever the County team is out of the Championship which means that important club games are being played at all sorts of ridiculous times e.g Tuesday nights in October or with a Semi Final and Final within a few days etc.
More sensible training regimes are needed for County players not the present get as much "expenses" for the Manager systems of quantity sessions.We had the NFL games before Christmas done away with because players needed rest and what happened ? Training began in early October (Or August with the Commandant Maughan) so players get no rest -except from playing games- which shopuld be the whole point in the first place - not bloody non stop training.
If it were non stop practising skills like catching/kicking/tackling etc it might have some merit but all it's doing is turning out running/handpassing/athletes who cant kick a ball to save their lives.
Anyway that's enough of a rant for today

topic. If they need to get into the ground and have the money to pay for it why have'nt they come out and said so and why do you support an organization that can pay for this but won't. I can understand why they would want the govt. to pay for it but I can't understand  you or anyone not directly involved in SR supporting a situation where they have the ability to contribute significantly but don't and the country has to fit the bill.

How about they use the €1.5m the Council paid them to stop squatting on the Council's land
