As it will be largely the irish/american constituency the three bodies will be visiting, I hope those same communities are appraised of the IFA's aversion to sharing a stadium with the GAA back home

nifan

The IFA wanted to share the stadium.

The fans didnt for various reasons.

There'll only be one reason and we all know what that is.

T Fearon

Exactly. I would be outraged if any Irish american contributed financially to the IFA >:(

What exactly are they doing out there. That report seems vague. Is it about promoting these sports amoung the Irish community in America?
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

considering you are outraged about something at least once a day, thats not much of a threat.

you have started a thread condemning the IFA for promoting soccer ffs. I think that has to be some sort of record for perma-rage.

Doire abú

Yes we should all be annoyed at the GAA and IFA trying to improve relations.

T Fearon

Actually I am annoyed that the IFA are trying to coat tail on to the GAA for the benefit of raising funds in America when they wont countenance sharing a new provinicial stadium here at home.

How are the IFA trying to "coat tail" [sic], or "tag on to GAA's apron strings"? As the article clearly states:
"The trip is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and organised by the Boston College Irish Institute"
The DofS and BCII will surely have invited representatives from all three codes to the USA equally, so the IFA is no more tagging along after the GAA than the GAA is after the IFA. You really are making yourself look ridiculous. Again.

Has there been a poll on owc as to the main reason for disliking the Maze?

I surmise the reasons would include:
1) its a shrine to the IRA
2) its too far away from belfast
3) its not windsor park
4) its too big

Cant think of any others.

Sounds like a junket. Plenty of big dinners for the blazers.

The main reasons i would say for opposition to the maze in order of importance is

1) Its in the arse of nowhere.
2) Its too big, both the stadium and the pitch dimmensions
3) It has the associated conflict resolution/shrine centre.

Virtually all footy fans are primarily concerned with 1 and 2 and view opposition to 3 as merely a means to an end if it galvanishes the politicans to do something about it. All of the fans i've spoken to about it don't give a hoot about there being a conflict resolution centre at the maze as long as a stadium fit for purpose is built in Belfast.
