Doesn't always go well admittedly but can be a confidence booster and breaking the duck or easing of nerves for those who get on.

Hard to keep a close eye with the snow beating into your face.

You athletic grounds or no where- following the matches on twitter doesn't make you a supporter.

Quote from: tiempo on November 26, 2025, 10:54:42 AMThe following should also be cancelled Dec-Feb now you mention it

- All Ireland club
- Colleges and Higher education
- Co Board and club meetings/AGMs
- All Ireland league rugger
- 6 counties Irish league
- Stations of the cross and Sunday devotion
- Nativity and pantos
- All forms of Bingo

We've not the climate for it, a good winter of discontent is what we need

This is the guise of county football and hence gets crowds especially counties like Armagh, it's no more county football than civil servants here are competent net contributors to our shithole of society.  It's third rate football throwing lads who will have no mission for proper county football in the near future to bolster the Ulster GAA's coffers, by the way your list was really really really funny, you are a very good contributor here, keep it up, great stuff.

The league starts in January how is that any different. If you're concerned about snow and your safety then stay in the house lmao

The league , last year I made the trek to Galway to see my county team when I know loads cancelled due to the storm, but it was the county team playing a county team - the McKenna cup serves only the coffers of the Ulster GAA.

It's winter football. If they're not on the field they'll be doing the dog in the gym. I'm sure the players don't mind the conditions. Never bothered me anyway once warmed up and moving. Standing watching is tough all right but bring a good jacket and thermal socks or stay at home. Don't get the issue here.

0 issue. Ask any player and he'd rather play a match as train. And for some it'll be the highest level they get to represent their county at.

Plus it gets us out of the house.

Can't imagine the McKenna Cup brings in much money. A good way to bring new players into inter-county football and as said much better than in-house games.

It's been estimated that the decision to scrap the McKenna Cup last year cost the Ulster Council in the region of €340,000
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Hard to believe but there you go. Although Armagh and Tyrone games in the Athletic grounds can pull in bumper crowds from memory.

The one person you want to avoid down in the local.

Glad to see the McKenna back. Saves a lot of logistic headaches for the CBs trying to sort challenge games all over the island
