jim gavin could also be a future candidate?

He certainly could, but I'd imagine thats a far bit down the road.

Himself & Darcy brought the 21's to the final in 2002 (when Lyons turned up for the final, took over and lost the game on the line to Galway)

21's went out in the 1st round this year (albeit to the eventual finalists and without a game under their belt) but he'd want some tangible success before he'd be a viable candidate

I'd like to see Brian Mullins giving it a go before we considered looking outside the county again!

Zero chance of Mullins getting the job.

Deegan along with Galvin & Sheedy will the next manager (if it's an internal appointment) - I'd have no problem per se with Kernan getting the job, but he'd be the first Dublin manager to be paid and I would have a problem with paying him...

payment should be avoided at all costs!
Grand Slam Saturday!

in future - thats what I mean
and because of first hand exp, I'd say the 2002 achievement was down to Gavin more or less

along the same liness, Deegan, Sheedy and backroom staff member Galvin need a few more years exp before taking this role

Payment wont be an issue as Dub per se wont be paying, it will be some rich industrialist etc that will throw a few sheckels his way from his own pocket - for travel exp ;)

I see Dubs in the same position as tyrone before mickey harte arrived. Loads of talent, decent managers, but just couldnt make the breakthrough.
A diff type of man took over and they overcame their glass ceiling and became superb for the next 5 years etc

joe will not take the job as he might end up playing against his sons, i know that for a fact. as regards potential canditates- very few within the county.
not sure deegan is ready for it yet,
i'd say it will come within the current managment team.

There are also rumours flying around that John McCloskey is in line for either the Derry or Dublin jobs, in fact someone told me that the last time round he was sounded out for the Dublin job.

Mullins would be a disaster, Deegan possibly.

Lyons is a buffoon - you just have to watch him on the Sunday game to relaise it's all bluff and b*llsh*t with him.

Wile rumours going about South Armagh that our very own Big Joe has agreed in principle to become the Dublin manager effective the end of the current campaign.

I could see it, either way Pillar will go having tried unsuccessfully to bring Sam to the Capital, or will ride off into the sunset the hero with Mr. Maguire in his back pocket..

The talk in Bandit country is ridiculous figures to the tune of 85,000 yoyo's for the year..

Great maybe he'll stop picking the Armagh team!

Radioulster

Why in under god would John McCloskey be considered for any job as a manager least of all the Dubs. He seems to be in the circle. Ewan McKenna wrote an article on Derrys problems and mentioned the fact they were not doing drills to combat the blanket defence, surely that is the trainers fault. This is the same journo who cowrote Oisins book who claimed that it was obvious when he was trying to do football drills that he was not knowledgeable about football. McKenna then proceeded to talk of how McCloskey could be a future county manager. Something is not adding up here.

JMohan

I'm not sure I follow your train of thought fully Radioulster ...
But by all accounts he seems to be a good coach - though if you say otherwise that would be news to me (I haven't read Oisins book).
I agree it seems an odd leap of faith to take a man from Ulster at all for Dublin.
Are you suggesting McKenna has an agenda?

You must be john McCluskey so. noone who has ever met the man would let him manage an u12 team.

JMohan

Well then you obviously know more than I do - like I said I haven't read Mcconvilles book. I assumed having trained or been with Joe and Grimley that he might have something to ocntribute ... it looks like we'll have another Dublin manager then... It is haping up like it did for O'Neill in '95

Uladh

training and managing teams are asw different as night and day

JMohan

Agreed - but I suspect from what you said about spekaing to him you're basing your opinon on more than just that (valid) fact?

nashville

Looks like this is going to happen... Have heard there will be a deal in place by end of August

ziggysego

Will never happen with his sons playing for Armagh.
