Anything longer than a YouTube reel is classed as too long.

They want to colour as they watch a film.

No thank yous when handing out party food.

Exact same in our school too

Adults becoming no different. Screens and scrolling and rewiring people's brains. The sister in law is a primary teacher and she says a common theme with most of the weans statemented as having ADHD etc. is that they are addicted to being on a tablet or a phone. The parents say it settles them, but it's likely they were given them like a dummy to soothe them when they were small and now they can't last 5 minutes in a structured environment without them.

We had our school do yesterday.  Long day on the sauce, bit shook today.  Ran into a good few past pupils, from last year's LC class to past pupils whose kids are now in the school.  It was nice to catch up, and to have a laugh over stunts and episodes from their times in school.  Two in particular,  who would have had their fair share of bother in school, and scrapes with the law in late teens and early 20s, but have turned things around, have kids, getting married, building houses, and one lad has 12 working for him.  I know there's plenty think teachers are whinging precious pricks a lot of the time, and no doubt there would be plenty of evidence to support a certain amount of those views,  but whenever I get wound up by those labels, it's nice to have memories of conversations like last night when you'd get an acknowledgement that you helped someone along the way, and they cared enough to remember it and to tell you.
Happy Christmas to all, whether you like us teachers or not!! ;D

At least have some memories from last night  ;D

I remember being out with a teacher mate and a past pupil came over to talk to him late into the night and she was now a fully grown and scantily clad woman, with drink taken. He says to me "we need to get out of here!" 🤣 An occupational hazard!

Haha, the 'I know you from somewhere' line takes on a lot of responsibility.  The last thing you want to hear is 'Yeah, at my son's/ daughter's parent-teacher meeting: not the answer you want to hear!! ;D

Teachers hate Mondays as much as the kids but Enoch Burke can't get enough of it, while not teaching himself he's fond of hanging around the schools grounds just in case! there's an opening
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

ONeill

Effin schools closing tomorrow.

I remember walking to school barefoot over the moss, being attacked by minks and foxes, and then having to shovel coal into the fire for the Master with the feet cut off me, trying to recite Wee Hughie, and the Our Father in Irish.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

An Watcher

Getting ridiculous now.  Any type of adverse weather at all and schools are closing

Milltown Row2

It is pretty bad out there and if stops potential disaster for one person trying to get to school it'll be worth it, also the wife will get a lot of batch cooking done for the week and the dogs will be happy

Agree with MR2 - Shocking out there today, maybe recency bias but the wind seems a lot stronger than last years storm. Up half the night listening to it was that loud

I dont mind the closure, but make the call early ffs. My lad on the way to Newry this morning (on a shared bus with another school).  The other school decided to close at 8.20 and so the bus had to wait in Banbridge for parents to come and lift those kids off the bus.  Then the bus can go on to Newry. What an absolute shambles.

News flash, we're on a rock circling a star in the middle of the cosmos, you think there's never been a decent spot of wind before, recency bias my woke hole 😂

lurganblue

It's not stronger anyway, as I still have roof tiles this year (at the minute).

Armagh18

Maybe more rain this time but last year was definitely windier.

Agree if closing the schools saved even one disaster it's worth it, but f**k me make the call last night.
