He seemed almost untouchable when he was Proconsul over here despite being reprimaned (I think twice) for acting illegally re NIO quango appointments.

Why, what's he been up to now?  Always seemed like a smarmy twat over here with his perma-tan and patronising attitude, but he was a vociferous anti-apartheid activist and supports a united Ireland (although he couldn't say that too loudly when here) so maybe he's not all that bad!

This is the best news that i've heard in age's.. ..He really screwed us Civil Servants over our pay rises a couple of years ago.....Tho knowing the Labour Gov he will probably get some sort of promotion.....
