Price of a pint looks set to soar

"Downward price stickiness" is the phenomenon in economics. Prices stay or go higher because overheads havent changed and with less customers you subject to cost squeeze.

This is core reason behind the ongoing death spiral many pubs face. I would ban supermarkets from stocking booze or massively hike tax on off license sales.

The amount of people I know who are borderline alcoholics is frightening.

The time to put manners on supermarkets has probably passed, they are a horrific aspect of modern societies.

Most of the staff in supermarkets have had a 40% wage rise since 2019. Have to pay for it someway.

And they're still vastly underpaid while Tesco etc make billions.

Near 13 quid an hour minimum, most staff are students, it's not a bad rodeo.

That would be illegal if you are in the 6 counties.

Edit maybe you quoted the wage rather than the price of the pint - would make more sense.

FFs Harp 7 quid - rather drink piss.

Harp can be a great pint. Alot better than the American dishwater Coors most people are drinking the day.
