It's like some backwater country that hasn't a notion on what its doing

It's been the case for quite a while that waiting lists, outcomes etc are significantly worse here than anywhere else in the UK, but more is spent per head here

Spent on what? Lunacy and they keep asking for more money! Pick a model that has been working and go with it..

Keep our doctors here, stop giving up places for international doctors coming here. We have lost some amount of doctors to other university's in the UK because Queens don't take on locals first..

Been proven so many times, educated elsewhere they generally stay there and lost to us here
One thing (of what I'm sure is a long list!) is parish pump/sectarian politics means we never truly close and consolidate resources and instead keep bits of hospitals open at great expense just to appease some faction or other.

University fee's capped for locals by order of politicians and no of places capped as a result.

No surprise the colleges have a preference for uncapped fee's

It would be better for all if the cap was removed and the universities allowed to grow .

This is a political decision that looks good on paper but the unintended consequences are worse.

Before any starts this is a different argument than fees should be lower for everyone.

Our politicians prefer low risk expediency and thinking small than anything which may affect their ability to log expenses.

The reason we're losing doctors here is they're paid f**k all and the work load is mental so they go to Oz or the Middle East for a proper wage

They need to move to one trust. How much money is spent on the overhead of maintaining all the trusts?

Doctors on a good bit less thanks to Edwin Poots and consequently leaving hand over fist. Nesbitt not making great shakes at it either.

Currently navigating quite a few things with the NHS due to an accident with elderly parents and it's a shitshow.

Nesbitt has vetoed one trust based on the experience of amalgamation of the 5 Education & Libeary Boards into the shitshow that is the Education Authority! No strategic plan in place didn't help & it has been downhill since then ! For a place of 1.9m people, it iz complete madness.

Two Romanian teenagers who were accused of attempting to rape a schoolgirl in County Antrim are to have the charges withdrawn.

The boys, aged 14 and 15, have been held in custody since the alleged assault on 7 June which led to sustained racially-motivated riots in Ballymena during the summer.

At Belfast Youth Court on Friday, the Public Prosecution Service was granted permission to end criminal proceedings due to "significant evidential developments".

The teenagers will now be released from the juvenile detention centre where they have been held for more than five months.

its an interesting development and will it come out what the "significant evidential developments" are?

Cant see this being received well. All the ones rioting are going through courts atm while these lads are now free. Id say there will be more trouble in the town now.

Significant evidential developments would lead you assume they are rightly 'free', no? And those currently going through the courts if found guilty should be punished.

No clue what it means but the bandwagon jumpers wont care either. I work in Ballymena and would be in that area a fair bit so will be keeping an eye on things.

Just hope whatever it is that it's the truth and that they really aren't guilty, not some silly technicality etc

If the police are not pursuing this considering the hype and carnage behind it would make you wonder
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Significant evidential developments would suggest evidence they are innocent would it not?

When i was in Ballymena earlier there was a heavy police presence so i assume there were some concerns that it might kick off this evening. Because i would be in that area i would check a facebook page occasionally to make sure theres no protests organised and theres already a few quite threatening posts/comments.
