Why will it be on my phone - mandatory for what, I am currently employed, don't access any benefits, I also don't take my phone everywhere its downstairs at night and feck knows where most of the time. So who will be asking me for this ID?

QuoteAsk yourself why people will need  this  with them  24/7?  Maybe  the British government are  just  thinking of us all , trying to make  things  convenient ?  Aye, that'll be it  ::)

Where does it state this?
It'll be on  your phone, won't it? It's a  mandatory DIGITAL ID.

The vast majority of  people don't  go anywhere without  their phones. Hence , you'll have it on you 24/7.

If its about  stopping  illegal working  , then just head home, get your ID card from the  drawer, bring  it into your employer. They check it. Ok, you're  able to work  legally. Back in the drawer it goes until it's needed again. Maybe in  a year or two.

Again, I ask... Why would you need this on your  phone, ready to  produce at a moments notice , unless  there wasn't some  sinister motive  down the  line that  requires you to do  exactly that?

Who's asking for it at a moments notice?

Munchie

Also the only phone I have is a company phone so not sure it would be prudent to have a digital ID on a corporate device.

Passports can be faked. Driving licences can easily be faked. Every 17 year old is running around with one to get into clubs.
A digital ID cannot be forged.

You'd imagine that is  what  this ID will eventually  become. And it  mightn't be  a case of who's asking for it , but  rather where do I scan?

Point is, many  were happy to produce their papers  during covid  to get into a pub, restaurant or wherever. And they had to physical remember to bring along  their vaccination cards. This will be on your phone, something that 99%   of people have on them  at all times .

John Lennon imagined all the people living life in peace, you can imagine lots of things, I am afraid yours is running away with you.

Many  people were  happy to show their vaccination  papers to get into a pub/restaurant during  covid.  Correct?

It's strange to see  so many  are happy   to trust the British government  on this, and that once they  get it passed, it won't   lead to   something  more sinister.

You really were desperate for a pint during the oul pandemic. I am not getting the correlation between a world wide pandemic with some folk desperate for a pint and a digital ID for employment and streamlining some bureaucracy getting certain benefits.

I do wonder if a side effect of Covid was mass amnesia

I am definitely not a tin foil hat guy nor an arch-libertarian

But this digital ID makes me very uneasy also

I just see too many ways for governments to exploit it and I don't think the case for it is even close to being made

Imagine there was a digital ID in the 70's and 80's here - where the RUC could track your every move

Has anyone put forward a convincing argument for it yet?
