I've always wanted to know the answer to this as well.

Yeah yeah, bought the ticket (online) but we ain't letting you in, would it not be simpler to not allow you to buy the ticket in the first place rather than allowing you to go to the door and asking for your digital ID?

My head hurts when people post conspiracy crap
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Quote from: Smokin Joe on September 28, 2025, 01:27:57 PMYes you have a passport, and a drivers licence and an NI number, but you don't need to show an ID card to get into a concert or a sports stadium or on a train.
If the Digital ID system comes into being there is a strong chance, IMO, that you will need to scan your Digital ID card in order to enter places such as these or to avail of services.

If that does happen imagine what could be done with that in a politicized system?  Kneecap go to enter a sports stadium or get on a train and the machine flashes red so they care not allowed through.  That is where this may be headed.  Whether it goes there or not it is clear how having a Digital ID that must be carried with you and can be checked by the establishment, increase the likliehood of dissenters / those who disagree with the establishment of being refused services.
We'll likely find that free speech will come with a reduction in privileges.

You buy your ticket online for the concert/train or other services, they know you've entered or got on the bus or train.

You are constantly leaving a digital footprint ffs! What the f**k are you concerned with?

You are making stuff up now about free speech and reduction of services? Get your tin hat off your head and wise up

Today you buy your ticket, yes "they" know that you bought the ticket, but there is no way of stopping you enter the venue unless you are too drunk or something like that.

After the advent of the Digital ID card I am pretty sure you will need to show both your ticket and your Digital ID card so "we can vouch that you are the ticket holder".  In that case there is a chance that the people the Establishment don't like won't be allowed entry.  Today that just isn't possible, that's why I don't like a Digital ID.

COVID was mentioned earlier.  I didn't bring it up.  But remember how we couldn't see our family or visit relatives in hospital meanwhile there were parties happening on Friday night's on Westminster.  They didn't have to make do with virtual drinks.

It's not a given that goverments can be trusted to do the right thing.

Who the f**k are "they"?

"They" are the people who told you that you couldn't go to a restaurant in 2021 unless you had a vaccination.  "They" are the people who tell me that I can only send a maximum of £3k to a Crypto Exchange in any 30 day period; my money that I earned and paid taxes on.
"They" are the people who say it is a crime, at the risk of arrest, to hold up a placard saying you don't support what is happening in Gaza.
"They" are the people who have debanked prominent UK Bitcoiners, ie told banks not to faciltate an account with them, even though they did nothing illegal.
"They" are the people who make the rules.
I don't know exactly who "They" are all the time, but they decided to make all the above happen.

The irony is that anyone who employs illegal people is still going to employ them anyway.  If someone is employing a person today who shouldn't be working then they won't be the type of employer who says "Sorry, Illegal Immigrant, I am not going to employ you because you don't have a Digital ID.  Any reputable employer who would co-operate with that already won't employ someone today without an NI number.
So the premise it is being supposedly brought in on is just so false.

This is the whole point.  At the minute they don't really have a way of stopping you buying the ticket because it is quite difficult, but not impossible, to stop people buying things with a credit card.
But it is a different matter to need to show some form of digital ID in order to enter a venue.

Munchie

What venue is it that won't let you in without digital ID?

None.  Because it doesn't exist yet.
I'm saying that's what will happen if digital ID comes in.

The 3k maximum over 30 days onto a crypto exchange is false.

It's your own banks policy and personally have put in over that figure with no trouble.

Exactly.

If it was a  physical ID card, that would be  less worrying.  But the fact it's a mandatory digital ID , means you  carry it at all  times. Why? Why would you need  that in your pocket at all times? Don't people  think that's a  bit odd? As said above , can  governments be trusted  to do  the right thing?

If I start a new job , I'll  locate my NI card from a drawer somewhere (that hasn't seen daylight for god knows how long, and bring it  to the employer. Even if it was  one of these new  ( physical) ID cards, id do same.  Why couldn't  I do that?  Sure who in their right mind would carry a  tablet sized plastic ID card around with  them at all times?

Some people don't have their drivers licence in their car. I didn't once , was stopped and asked to produce it at police  station within X days.  Disabled badges work the same. I used to take my uncle to appts, and  he brought his, put it on the dash, we got a disabled  parking spot. If he forgot it , we  couldn't. When we got home , it went  back in the drawer until next time.

Ask yourself why people will need  this  with them  24/7?  Maybe  the British government are  just  thinking of us all , trying to make  things  convenient ?  Aye, that'll be it  ::)

Dead on, you can watch me eat my steak dinner through the window because you won't be allowed into restaurants without one, apparently!  ;)

It'll be on  your phone, won't it? It's a  mandatory DIGITAL ID.

The vast majority of  people don't  go anywhere without  their phones. Hence , you'll have it on you 24/7.

If its about  stopping  illegal working  , then just head home, get your ID card from the  drawer, bring  it into your employer. They check it. Ok, you're  able to work  legally. Back in the drawer it goes until it's needed again. Maybe in  a year or two.

Again, I ask... Why would you need this on your  phone, ready to  produce at a moments notice , unless  there wasn't some  sinister motive  down the  line that  requires you to do  exactly that?
