this is largely a myth, the Consumer Price Index didn't show an especially big increase, albeit when compared with fairly high rises in the Celtic Tiger etc.

well from purely personal, anecdotal evidence it certainly seemed to have a major effect at the time.
Overnight the price of pints in the pubs id have drank in went up...

Britain should stay out of the euro for as long as it takes for us to settle the loan we still have dragging behind us like a great big ball and bloody chain in Blighty. The rise of the euro since I moved back home has knocked a few percentage points off what we owe.
