Went to see "The Road" today, and what a delightful romp it was, sunshine and lollipops all the way. No seriously bring along the anti depressants when you go to this one. It is the end of the world where nothing grows, all the animals are dead, and anarchy reigns, but if you can handle the darkness you will like this movie, very good, 8 out of 10.

Do you go to the cinema every day?

I watched District 9 the other day.  The first half was good and it had so much potential, I loved the documentary style method of shooting the early parts of the film.  The way it showed how the aliens were treated and how they lived in the slums, some of them had integrated with the humans while some were hiding weapons and were fighting back against the humans for the way they were being treated.  I thought the storyline was very deep and I loved that, the fact it was set in South Africa there were similarities to the apartheid history of the country as some could say the aliens were oppressed and at times I really didn't know whos side I was on, The humans or the aliens.

But then the second half of the film was a complete letdown, with a very annoying lead and it turned into a film that was basically similar to any hollywood action movie.  It was a shame for a film that had so much potential.

Watched Road to Perdition a few days back - fantastic movie.

I love this film.  I think its one of the films of the decade and does not get the praise it deserves.  Quality film and Tom Hanks is brilliant in it.

Capt Pat

I don't go every day, most days.

"The Road"/to Perdition" are similar movies now that we are talking about them on the same page. Perdition is one of Hanks best movies if not the best, better than a lot of the stuff he won oscars for.

As part of the iTunes 12 Days of Christmas free downloads, I got Lesbian Vampire Killers. I had heard terrible things about it, but watched it the other night as I couldn't sleep. Got to admit, to my surprise, it was even worst than I was expecting. Not one laugh in it at all. More of a film for the Nuts, Loaded magazines kind of people.

I'd avoid it if I was you.

There is a mini romance between RDJr and Rachel McAdam... Saw it there today, thought it was a decent show, kept me interested the whole time. Mark Strong is great in whatever he does.

Seen a few films in the last week or so, the bad weather has left me with nothing else to do.

Sherlock Holmes - 7/10, enjoyable watch loved the way Sherlock was able to figure out what was happening with a few simple clues, also liked the fight scenes when he told you what he was going to do in slow motion then did it at full speed. Good story, interesting ending seeing how it all came together.

The Road - 8/10, A sad film and very hard to watch at times, a few scenes were painful to watch. The brutality of the human race when left without food was shocking, but you can imagine something like that happening if that situation arose.

My Sisters Keeper - 7.5/10 Girlfriend made me watch this for making her sit through so many 'boy films' she reckoned that this will be the film that makes me cry. Although i stayed strong i could feel myself getting emotional at times. Would definitely recommend it, its not a soppy film, but looks at the dilemas a family faces with their little girl dying from cancer.

Hurt Locker - 8/10 I love most war films and this one didn't disappoint, its about a bomb disposal unit in baghdad. And goes through the life and death situation everytime they are called out. Makes Baghdad look like absolute hell, which it probably is!

District 9 and Body of Lies to watch this week!
