You'd know he was a defender when he played, alright

There's a few more just as bad as him - McGinley when he's on co-commentary always gives the benefit of the doubt to the player fouling.

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 09, 2025, 10:24:41 AMBBC deserve great credit for their refreshed program. The referee innovation is a good idea.

Particularly impressed with Sarah Mulkerrins, was no surprise checking her past of being a pro broadcaster. The "explaining for the English/new viewers" was tolerable enough, so long as it isn't always like that.

GAA+ is quite poor on that front, throwing ex and current players into fray results in awful clichéd analysis.

Much more interesting having older experienced heads IMHO. BBC are clearly now interested in providing a good program, and not an afterthought.

Wouldn't agree about Gaa +, hurling anyway, their analysts are light years ahead of the RTE ones in my view. Richie Hogan is really insightful, he did it all but is able to articulate it as well.

I think GAA+ analysts are quite good, and not as eager as RTE pundits to make a "funny quip"
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."

Had to turn BBC off in the first half, niblock very hard to listen to. Seems a good fella but not a commentator in a million years

FermGael

Harte was very hard to listen to yesterday beside Niblock.
They would have been far better with McMahon there
Wanted.  Forwards to take frees.
Not fussy.  Any sort of ability will be considered

I think he was trying not to be accused of Kerry bias when they were showing the replay of the punch on White.

Looked a clear red to me given the ball was well gone.

Mickey Harte was dreadful in the co commentator role yesterday. Came across as someone from a bygone era, who was more interested in Tyrone than the actual match.

He wasn't as bad as  Pete Sampras on the RTE  panel. Asking Garth Crooks-style meandering non-sensical questions and  adding  wee snide comments.

Yeah Mickey wasn't great as Co-commentator

Harte maybe even worse as a neutral.

Harte on the circuit big time and has been for years.  Can't get enough of it.

You'd think that he'd sit nd watch the match at home. Like Mc Conville too, into the media all the time.

Mc Ginley is knowledgeable. Good live match analysis in my opinion.

If someone is willing to give a decent wage doing commentary you'll take it..

I know a lad that was just doing the odd voice over stuff for adds on radio and tv, pretty good money for nothing.

Except McConville is excellent.

10mins into the Tyrone Kerry game on BBC there was a constant rattling off of kickout stats, as if the scoreboard was secondary, apparently Tyrone had Kerry on the ropes, like there wasn't an hour of football still to play - give the game a chance to unfold
