QuoteThe Mayo IFC quarter-final between Kiltane and Islandeady will be replayed after the former was found to have played extra-time with a full complement of 15 players, despite having two sent off in normal time in last Sunday's original fixture.

Kiltane won the game by 0-27 to 1-21, but Islandeady successfully appealed the result after referee Frank Flynn allowed Kiltane to play extra-time with a full team. The winners finished normal time with 13 players after Mikie Sweeney and Mickey Conroy were both sent off on second yellow cards.

Players sent off in normal time were permitted to be replaced before the rule – Rule 2.5 (i) – was changed at Congress in 2024. The replay will take place next Sunday at 3pm in Parke.

How did the ref and all his officials make such an error?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Surely out of the ref, presumably linesmen and umpires and the whole opposition team someone would know about the rule change? You'd forgive some people not knowing but f**k me!

The point was raised to him but he and his team were adamant that they were correct. Replay scheduled but a replay is not the same as heading into ET with a 2-man advantage.

gallsman

Yup, it's very unfair on them compared to what they should have had.

Brendan

Surely there'd be a case for just replaying the extra time as its considered a completely new game with new team sheets on the day etc

Really looking forward to Crossmaglen v Clann Eireann in Armagh semi final this weekend. For me Clann Eireann 1-15 would have the better footballers but Cross are bigger, stronger team and have the Black & Amber fear factor that may just wobble Clann Eireann.
Cross have 2-3 game changers in their team whereas Clann Eireann probably only have the one but Clann Eireann are well balanced throughout the team with some great man markers. Will be a great contest from the County's 2 best teams.

Wouldn't rule out a draw here.

CE wont fear the black and amber factor I would say. Been fairly successful against them recently.
I do feasr their forward line though. If the ONeills and Cian are firing it will be hard to stop them

CEs to lose,  better all round team,  we may have stronger forwards but they have a better overall team and will curtail us in the middle.

Poor Cross I hope they can keep the score respectable ;)

That Cross forward line is exceptional, Rian a top 5 (at least) player in the country when hes at his best and other 3 lads wouldn't look out of place on probably any county side. Think they'll have enough dogs at the back to handle Turbo, he'll need plenty of help and can't be expected to carry all the scoring threat. Clann Eireann do have some excellent defenders and are an exceptionally talented side all over the field. Will be a hum dinger of a game

tonto1888

interesting to see who picks up who
McCarthy on Rian
Heffron on Oisin
Owens on Cian
Not sure who picks up the youngest ONeill

For cross, who picks up magee/turbo/TK?

Will Barry not get the job of one of those lads? Is he fit?

Five counties in Connacht plus a London club, and Mayo avoid all four Connacht club champions en route to final.

Nothing surprises with Connacht Council.
