So Armagh won by 9pts, was close enough with my double figure estimation  ;)

That was a nervy final few minutes towards the end of normal time!  If Monaghan had managed to get that ball kicked long then we were in a world of trouble.  Incredible effort from McMullan to get the block in.  I didn't have any great confidence going into extra time that we would turn the screw on Monaghan. Was thinking to myself, what do we have to do to win an Ulster final! If anything i thought they might be the team with the bounce and belief to go on and do it.  But we went up the gears and overran them.  Delighted for the players and management who've had to suck it up and watch others celebrate wildly in recent years while we watched on, wondering what we needed to do to win an Ulster final!  Happy as well for younger Armagh supporters, ones in their teens and early 20s who've finally had a chance to see their team win a provincial.
That's just, like your opinion man.

What match are you watching ?
The one on RTE2 mate 👍

Monaghan very happy at HT. Armagh rattled
Rattled? How so?

You were saying ???
What was I saying?

Quote from: Main Street on May 17, 2026, 09:29:55 PMAt the end of the 70min game, both teams went into the dressing rooms knackered. At the resumption of play ET Monaghan players were still knackered, falling to ground with cramp, yet not a bother on the Armagh players, bounced onto the pitch and played as fresh as a daisy, which begs the question - what was put into their apple juice drinks during the break?
Although you're clearly on the wind up your manager had a very strange take on that citing Monaghan having had extra time in the Derry match! If inter-county players can't recover from an extra 20 minutes football two weeks later he needs to be asking questions of his S&C coach.

We never do things easy and although clearly the better team overall Monaghan showed their resilience again in the fourth quarter.

Although there were very few poor performances from an Armagh perspective Oisin Conaty deserves special mention again. How lucky we are to have him.

Disappointed in the stewarding on the Hill yesterday.  We were in at 2.30 to get a good spot as we had an elderly supporter with us. Had a great spot in the middle of the field and the area around us was full 30 minutes before throw in yet the stewards at the top kept sending latecomers into our section through to throw in and beyond when they should have had it closed and sending people on down past our section.

Keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and the world will turn.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Is there any reason why GAA games take approximately 20 minutes to restart once it goes to ET? Surely they should be kept out on the pitch and given 5/10 minutes and get on with it.

I'd rather both teams were allowed as much time as needed (within reason) to get rubs etc and get prepared as it's a big ask to go hard at it for another 20 minutes and it's best that the quality doesn't dip (as much as possible)

Momentum is massive in football now.  The last 10 mins had the feel of that spell v Kerry last year.  It is just so important to try and get your hands on the ball and wrestle back that momentum. Fair play to Monaghan for getting on that run.  Everything was going right for them and you could see the tails up.  The block by McMullen really probably saved the game in normal time as I fully expected Monaghan to get a shot away in that move.

I did fear going into ET that there would be a continuation of that last ten mins of normal time, but it all shifted again. A couple of quick scores settled Armagh, and then the goal killed it.  A word for McMullen again.  What a pass.  He is such a class operator.

Conaty deserved MOTM of course. A couple of times he got left one on one with a defender and you could see the fear.  Rightly so.  Conaty is rapid!

Great to finally put the Ulster in the pocket, with lots of difficulties yet ahead.

Watched back on the game a second time.

In my opinion Monaghan was lucky to be only two points behind at half time

By the 55th minute the scoreline of Armagh 1-19 to 0-15 and gave a fair reflection to how things was going.

Complacency from Armagh and a purple patch aided by impact off the bench got the draw for Monaghan and would have been a pure smash and grab stuff had they won in normal time.

Armagh then brushed themselves down and comfortably won in extra time.

If I were from Monaghan and seen my county just play well for 15 of the 90 minutes in a home Ulster final it would not sit well with me. A repeat of that performance will get Monaghan beaten by Mayo.

.
Have you never observed Geezer at the end of a losing game for Armagh and his antics??
Bannigan had the microphone stuck in his face for comment at the game's end and I wouldn't read too much into what he said  re his pain or regrets, generally he comes across very composed and considerate unlike an ex monaghan manager of note. I think most Monaghan folk are right behind him and his capabilities.

Armagh are probably best conditioned team in Ireland, does not happen by accident.
as for today, maybe they were heavy with electrolytes prior and during the game and the breaks.
not one Armagh guy went down with a cramp. I did wonder after the game, will some of them feel that they now have won all they need to , an Ulster and an all ireland, and not be as driven for rest of the year.
hopefully it will take Monaghan two and a half weeks to fully recover, so they only beat my Mayo by a few points and not hammer them.

If you are suggesting doping then prove it or shut up...
