Derry very poor. Too many mistakes that you'd get at U16 level. Meath got the 2 pointers and deserved to win. Simple as.

Shane Mc Guigan needs to off-load the ball or needs to know when to lay it off. Bring others into play.

Tyrone up next for Derry. Need to win that.

Gives you a great boost to win your first league fixture. Meath will be happy with that. They should build on that now.

A lot of things wrong there but th main thing for me is that the hand passing and recycling game isn't going to work anymore.

Meath weren't the much better but they were direct and took a few chances but we persisted with the old style which isn't going to work against the better teams. I think we'll struggle to get promoted now even with the injuries back.

Few bad decisions in a row against Derry in the first half, but after that very poor for both teams.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with getting promoted but what I am concerned with is zero progress we seem to have made. We are far too slow and laborious in our play. That all starts with the kickout. On a wet day we persisted kicking it long and Meath won a lot of that ball. This team needs to start winning games to get out of the cycle we are in. Mentally if nothing else. Hard to see that happening next week.

I'd agree, both teams had purple patches re kickouts, but Meath seemed to turn the screw in the last quater and we had no real reply. Cobwebs blown off for Rd 2

Is Conn Kilpatrick waving to someone in the crowd?

Dunneroyal

Happy enough with that. A bit rusty. Kinsella, Flynn and Conlon been back the huge points from today. And of course the win, I'm not been snide here but if we have anything about us re Leinster and all Ireland ambitions we had to be beating a team who hasn't won a game in over a year. And I mean no disrespect to Derry in that . But in last year we've beat Dublin Kerry and Galway. So needed to win this one.
The howler for the goal made the game closer than should have been. All in all happy enough

Not often you would see Tyrone lose as many kickouts

Blowitupref

Half time Tyrone 0-8 Kildare 1-8
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

thebigfullforward

May be biased but feel like that's a very soft free

Jesus, Morgan has been poor.

Am I being stupid here or is that screen now allowed? Have seen refs call it as a foul previously

Blowitupref

Kildare 1-19 Tyrone 2-16. Good result for Kildare when you consider they played with 14 men from the 44th minute.

Good result for Kildare, looks like a real minefield of a division!
