STREET FIGHTER

Thread to record biggest let downs whether personal or society as a whole!

STREET FIGHTER

Not personal for now...

I'll start with an easy one....

A certain man who had the world at his feet (MMA community & more!) and ended up becoming one of the worst people on this island & world!

Brilliant at the start and would have followed his unbelievable rise with great interest, how wrong was I and thousands (million?) more?

All well recorded on a thread dedicated to him....

Politicians - in general. I don't consider myself tied to any party, or left or right.

But the absolute dross that passes these days be it in Ireland, Uk, USA or anywhere.

And I've no idea how it's fixed as it seems getting elected just results in a game of populism rather than trying to fix things. Quality of person or quality of thinking just not there.

In defence. I think running a country is just too far beyond any people's capabilities now - everyone has history that follows them and the scale of decision making is too big.

Let AI look after it, surely it will better?

Terminator territory I know but sure lol
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Good shout. Promised so much and anything would have been an upgrade on 14 years of Tories you'd have thought.

Rivalling the Tories for uselessnesses and are likely going to let Farage become PM. Starmers record on Israel is disgusting as well.

McGregor was a terrific fighter, and never anything more. He told everyone pretty much everything he was right from the beginning. There's a generation of young, Irish men who placed their faith in him as some sort of messianic figure for no other reason then he won a few fights and made a shit load of money.

How his fall from grace affected them is 100% on them, not him. I remember this eejit over on boards.ie who used to go on about how McGregor "dragged him out of some pretty dark places" with regards to his mental health, and used that and that alone to try and argue he'd KO Mayweather.

I think that is true of everyone.  There isn't a worse God worshiped on Earth.

As an absolute casual I didn't know much about his back story when he first exploded onto the scene...

This was all very well managed and it seemed he was being promoted as a hard working Irish man (plumber or labourer, on the dole, supported by his GF bla bl bla)...

Perhaps the real fans were always in the know!

He was marketed unbelievably and seemed to be manageable....

Turns out he couldn't be managed at all and his downfall (to most) is meteoric!

gallsman

No, from the very moment he got to the UFC and approached the mainstream he promoted himself exactly as he was/is i.e. the arrogant, obnoxious loudmouth who could do or say as he pleased without consequence. Long before he was making mega bucks he was calling Dennis Siver a Nazi. He told Aldo he'd ride into his favela on horseback and kill anyone not fit to work.

And it was all laughed off and swept under the rug by sycophantic imbeciles because he had a dynamite left hand for a couple of years.
