It felt like Glenullin's management watched a video of Scotstown beating Kilcoo and decided "this is the way" without factoring in wind direction, a kickout plan, or having any form of a plan B.

Glenullin  werent really playing Gaelic football yesterday.They should install dartboards in their clubrooms and try that as a sport instead. Kerry  teams generally do play football so they do tend to win matches. 

And you think what An Ghaeltacht did yesterday was playing football? Certainly not the envision of the FRC fronted by our saviour Jim Gavin.

Must have been a record for the amount of hand passing in a 60th minute All-Ireland final from a winning team however they chose that way to win than entertain and won't care one bit now.

The tactics was a clear response to them playing more football in the semi final against Kildare opposition and nearly getting beat, plus would have known about the scoring power Glenullin had coming into that final and the best way to stop that was to retain possession with long boring passages of play.

But we're after completely tearing up the rules because it was damaging the spectacle. The new spectacle isn't much better either so if that's the rational we probably need to have a good rethink of it.

Teams retaining possession is incredibly boring so what are we going to do about it? People said mass defences were boring and the rules were changed.

It hasn't actually achieved much bar the 2 point rule which doubles a score if it was taken an inch outside the line a 1 point score is taken.

Easier said than done to be pro active in trying to get the ball back when teams are coached to a inch of their lives to sit back and wait to pounce on a mistake or wayward kick pass.

I don't blame Gaeltacht for playing the way they did but their tactics along with Glenullin not engaging made it a truly shocking watch and after watching both previously that game had the potential to be a classic final.
