Looking on here you wouldn't think there was a All Ireland this weekend, best of luck to both sets of supporters in their search for tickets!

Since Cork, the aristocrats of hurling, last won a hurling All Ireland in 2005 a whole lot has changed in the world. They had arguable one of the greatest hurling teams ever in the late 70's, but since 2005 the two greatest hurling teams have appeared in Kilkenny and Limerick, can I say they both came and went?

In 2005 they stood top of the hurling charts with 30 All Irelands, four ahead of their closest rivals Kilkenny who are now six better than them. Limerick, Clare and Tipp have also won multiple All Irelands. Offaly even managed to fall to the 3rd tier of hurling and rise again.

There were no iPhones to capture the videos of the 2005 All Ireland success and no Youtube to upload any videos onto. There's been 3 popes, ISIS rose and fell, Greece went bankrupt, Ireland almost did, Britain left the EU, a global pandemic, same sex marriage was made legal and Trump became the US President, twice.

Since their last AI, well, AI means a completely different thing now.
Up the Rebels, Up Tipp!

From whom? If there was a Kilkenny player who didn't know the score I'd be very surprised.

Did Kilkenny come out looking an apology?

There's definately no way Kilkenny players knew the score.

How would they have known?

I've been refereeing many years, in every game that has a scoreboard I've been asked two things what's the score and how long is left. That's every game

You're telling me they didn't know that a point went up for a wide?

Yes.

Can you throw up a link from the players who couldn't count?

The ref had the correct score the whole time, his umpire put out a wide, the players on the pitch knew that shot was wide as the it was given by the umpire, you'd have to be pretty dumb to not know the correct score at that point.

Incorrect scores go up on boards up and down the country every weekend, and as I said, even with scoreboards having the score up and the time left, players will and have always asked "whats in it" "Whats left ref"

Are there many games with 70k at it and players asking the ref the score ?

Joe Canning and Eddie Brennan in separate articles I saw both said they always went by the scoreboard in Croke Park during a game. That's good enough for me

Are there many games that the umpire waves wide and the players think he waved a white flag?

You're wrong.

Players said they didn't know the score, hence going for points late on.

You are the only one with this view point.

Anyone else on here with MR's point of view?

Sorry the match isn't always about you the whole time.

Milltown Row2

So you havent a link from the players or even the Kilkenny management that they were confused on the scores?

I know you're correct in that the referee has the final say on the score, but surely even you when asked the score by a player might need to check your wee book every once in a while and don't keep the running tally in your head?

Players are no different.

KK players clearly thought they needed a goal, or they'd have taken points as there was time.
