St Mary's won 1-16 to 1-9. Ranch goal with the last kick of the game.

OakLeaf

Very poor second half from Queens. Ranch dominated.

Strong looking side St Mary's, but are Queens just poor? No Oisin Conaty for Mary's, will he be wheeled out for the do or die games?

OakLeaf

Don't think they'd count against UU though. Not many would by the look of things.

Always thought Queen's had strong teams and panels etc. but they seemed to have drifted a good bit recently at Sigerson level.

Are more lads going to UU? UU maybe bigger campus and offers more courses?i know St. Mary's always have a smaller panel due to intake but good 'inter-county players' get places easy in St. Mary's.

Thought the same.

Well finished though. Not much between these two.

Is there not something about QUB not being able to offer the same level of scholarship/bursary anymore

True. It's a bugbear of mine. I'd say a good percentage of short frees these days are not 13m. Refs don't seem to blow it much anymore.

UU definitely more proactive in promoting GAA teams in college.( so much so Gregory Campbell complained They run future stars scheme and deliver bursaries. They have/ had Development Officers attached to each campus.
They deliver a wide range of courses re industry/ vocational courses.
So all attractive to young people.

St.Marys Teaching Primary & Secondary  Courses require AAB generally to get a place due to Dept of Economy restrictions on enrolment numbers.

Their Liberal Arts degree requires CCC usually, Some  of these students  progess to PGCE post graduate courses in NI & UK !

I think a lot of the time unless the player collects it within 13m referees arent sure where they were when the kick was taken

Milltown required here....I think you have to be 13m away when kick taken but you can collect the ball from nearer than 13?
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

My understanding is it's an offence to be within 13m when the ball is kicked and there's no minimum distance specified that the ball must travel. I just think like with the Queens goal it's difficult to enforce because there tends to be a focus on the distance before the ball is touched.
