Jack Kelly would be a very good addition, provided he applies himself in there and knuckles down.

I am not sure about Fionn Holland. He is an athlete 100% but I'd have questions over his hurling at that level. It's a bit of a wile one for me, wonder how that came about.

That's him. Got Man Of The Match in intermediate hurling final.

Cast the net wide. What's to lose? I reckon Holland might be a little short of what we need but hurlers like himself and Gearoid Lynch with that raw athleticism need to be grabbed early and developed.

We should be looking to broaden our panel up until the end of January.

Div 2 of the league will be a poor standard. We need to take care of business, get promotion, but we should also be able to keep a strong emphasis on S&C and hard training whilst experimenting with younger players and different positional changes. The likes of Picky  and Paddy Purcell don't need to be hurling until St Patrick's Day.

U20 Cship games this weekend Harps v Borris/Kilcotton Harps by a bit. Camross V Cbolla loser here could be gone so it will be closed. Castletown V Mrath/Ballyfin no ideal what Mrath/Ballyfin are like but they won well last week. Aleix to beat Rdowney /Errill.

They can't be too bad, won well again today. That's them in the final, no?

Clan na Gael should win the B in a canter. Bet a strong-ish PRT today.

They got the result wrong way around on the website.  Castletown won

Castletown won by 12 they top the group with a game still to play. Camross gone after Cbolla beating them today. Harps beat Borris. Clan Né Gael Strong in the B. Question should a team with 3 or 4 clubs together be allowed into a B competition??

Well... It was the same arrangement last year, and they weren't up to much. These things are cyclical, I suppose. I would say that more concerning for hurling in Laois is how the traditional clubs ( esp. R/E, B/K) are not really featuring in underage grades, except at the lower levels.

I don't think so actually.

I just think this year, young Kavanagh (and McSpadden from BK) are formally Trumera players having transferred in January.

It's not ideal having amalgamations like that in the B alright. Wouldn't be surprised to see them face PRT again in the final.

And I'd say they'll be A next year either way given they have very few players up to the age.

Hadn't realised there were semi-finals? Thought it was whoever topped the groups went straight to the final. Maybe not. Aaron Fitzpatrick, who played for the county minors this year, didn't play today, so PRT might potentially have him back if they did get to the final.

Last year Kavanagh played with Mountrath because he was still a minor,  but Dion Cuddy played u20 with Clan nan Gael.

Portlaoise losing in the u20 First round yesterday they should have a serious look at themselves.

Do we need to create a 'C' competition in hurling for the likes of Portlaoise. Small club like themselves are really struggling at this level.

All joking aside - why would you expect Portlaoise to be good at u20? Who have they? They have no one called into the Laois u20 squad, and nor are they likely to. This age group competed unsuccessfully in 'B' competitions at u17. There's a bit of a push way down the age groups, but I expect it will be a few years yet before we see Portlaoise being strong in minor or u20 grades.
