Unfortunately I agree. Egomaniac. Not fit to grace the occasion

Laois345

I would agree. His communication with players is shocking. Complete power trip on every occasion.

This is where we are however.

Just in from o Moore park county final not the worst ever some lovely scores taken Ballacolla deserving winners much better balanced team than Camross but for a wonderful display from Zane Keenan Colla would have won pulling up Colla got most match ups right Keyes well marked by Pearson Picky scored 2 great points to seal the deal

CB were good & fully deserved the win. Very unusual for Camross to flop in a final.
D Maher held his own. I need not have worried.
Picky had some cameo!

Castletown were very good in the minor. Even in the first half, when Phelan was doing all the scoring, their front 6 were performing better than the scoring stats suggested.
Bittersweet to win a back to back minor but be relegated from senior.

It was a strange year. 7 /8 championship games is a lot to maintain. Lots of up and down form. RE looked the team earlier on and beat CB easily enough as did Camross. Camross ate RE in semi and were way off it in the final. CB are champs again so they wont mind. Rosenallis decent progress. Ballinakill possibly the team of the year.

CB to their credit, know how to turn up in county finals. They had not one man to be found wanting today. Picky is something else, 4 touches in a 7 minute cameo and he scores 2 points and lays off a tap over for another forward.

Camross had no answers really. 1 point from play in the 2nd half was some shambles. And that point was a effort saved over the bar.

6 points flattered Camross, in truth. CB were dominant all over the pitch and but for Zane, Camross had no answer. The sweeper suited CB incredibly well but even that notwithstanding, I thought Pearson (in particular) Maher and Doyle hurled very well. A lot of soul-searching in Camross and with Picky presumably to come back, CB look strong moving forward.

The minor final was brilliant. I expected The Harps to win but they lost it in the first half with the wind. I wonder about the overall quality in comparison with previous years but then there were a lot of 13-15 year olds playing.

Thought the standard wasn't great - Phelan excepted, of course.

Quote from: Voice of tReason on October 15, 2025, 10:17:32 PMMinor Final should be another great watch. A lot of talented players on both sides (Mahony, Delaney, Whelan and Phelan in particular) but I feel The Harps might have a little more depth around the pitch. Weather forecast isn't amazing and if it comes down to a tight battle, Phelan's free-taking could be a big strength.

I think Rathdowney/Errill will win the Premier Intermediate. The gaps between games could hurt Ballyfin whereas RE will have had quality training all year. Ballyfin have a nice blend of size, power and pace but I think they could struggle against a physical RE backline.
Separately, I also disagree with Ballyfin playing Castletown in a play-off should they lose; if they can't beat RE's second team, they've no business competing against their first team. I don't think they'd want to go up without winning a championship anyway.

For the senior, it's really hard to see anything but a Camross win.
There's no comparison in terms of form (collective and individual), attacking strength, defensive solidity and bench options. There's no doubt Clough/Ballacolla are capable of a big performance but it would take a remarkable upturn in form and I just don't know how they can hold the Camross full-forward line and hit enough scores at the other end.

All 3 predictions wrong.  :o

Heard this morning that Picky has committed to Laois for next year. Huge boost if true.

I said last week that if Clough Ballacolla stayed in it at half time, they could pull it off....well they did that and much more, in truth the 6 point margain was too kind to Camross. I couldnt think of 1 area of the pitch they came even close to coming out on top.

Camross looked the much more physical side all over the picth, they have some huge players throughout thier ranks. Yet CB dominated the sky's, the breaking ball around it, and they blew them away in the physical stakes in the tackles. CB were ferocius where Camross were like a bunch of timid sheep. It was the most un Camross like performance that I can remember witnessing in a big game.

Fair play to Clough Ballacolla though, they don't come anywhere near to dominating the underage stakes, but yet they seem to constantly bring lads through, and before we know it they're intigrated into an county final winning side and the experience and confidence that brings with it. If Picky comes back anywhere near the player he is for them next year, it will take something special to stop them.

Cbolla way the better team I said last week is Keyes is stopped camross could struggle. Ctown very good in the second half of the minor great win for them with a very young team 10 of them are minor again next year.

Hyland had a lot to say after the match

Laois man

Maybe Hyland is right what he's saying.

Next Laois manager if we have any sense

The Rover

Fair Play to Hyland, absolutely correct in everything he said.
in all honesty if anyone thinks the hurling board give a dam about those words think again, or would even consider taking on board what Hyland said and many others think it will as usual all fall of deaf ears.
