Antrim have pushed Down hard over the last few years in their meetings and it being an Ulster derby would have given some more interest to it,but they couldn't get job done unfortunately.
That 8 goal result is unlikely to happen again, plus Down seem to have a problem with finals.

Antrim Down would have been dire gou g by their Ulster game

As is a 22 point swing in scoreline.Laois I suspect after watching  down this year and conceding 8 goals will play very defensive and won't be much of a spectacle either.Laois have did very well considering new York had them on the ropes a few weeks back.

Armagh18

Yeah hopefully they don't go too defensive. Either of them two won't be nice to watch in Sam next year anyway.

Always be nice to the teams on the way up as they'll be nice to you on the way down..

Did Laois knock Armagh out in the not too distant past?

However, Laois and Armagh diverged from that point. Laois are now beginning to rise again, no doubt because they have an Armagh man managing them.

Weird one, they were clearly too strong for division 4 but then didn't do anything in Leinster. Nearly lost to New York but managed to get to a TC final and anything can happen there.

The Boy Wonder

Laois were a decent Division 2 team until 2-3 years ago.
Retirements plus a questionable managerial appointment resulted in freefall into Division 4.

Justin McNulty's return was very welcome and Laois were promoted back to Division 3 this year.
A lot of young players introduced and still rebuilding - very much Division 3 standard at the moment.

Will be outsiders in Tailteann Cup Final versus Down but can only improve on last year's trouncing.

I assume you're addressing the Armagh lads.
There are certainly no airs and graces in Laois football circles presently.
Like yourselves in Antrim the aspiration would be to reach and maintain Division 2 standard.

The front runners in Division 3 next year are expected to be Kildare, Sligo and Fermanagh.

Having beaten Fermanagh and a draw with Sligo and losing a ding dong battle with Laois we could end up doing really well or fighting relegation!

The "didn't do anything in Leinster" bit is slightly misleading.
Laois lost to Offaly by 7 or 8 points I think but played pretty much all bar 15 minutes of the game with 14 men. The lad sent off, James Kelly, is one of Laois's best defenders.
That all said, I expect Down to have too much for us Saturday week.

Fair enough, just going off the result as would have expected Laois to maybe bloody a few noses in Leinster not get well beaten by a weak enough Offaly team.

Down definitely favourites but they're no world beaters, highly doubt they'll rack up anything like the score they did the last day.
