Not that they'll win Sam so it doesn't matter but yeah wild that they're below Down ffs.

Realistically to win an All Ireland.
1. kerry
2. Donegal
3. Armagh (injuries dependent)
4. Galway
5. Tyrone
6. Dublin
7. Mayo
8. Roscommon
9. Meath
10. Derry
11. Monaghan
12. Cork
13. Louth
14. Kildare
15. Down
16. Cavan.

With Dublin and Tyrone currently on a downward trend and Mayo, Derry, Meath and Roscommon on the up.

I'd have Armagh at 2 only slightly behind Kerry - the strength of that huge panel should be able to cope with most injuries and they have the physicality. I did notice they missed a penalty again last week - I thought they'd got over that mental block ;)
Donegal are strong, but were no-where close to Kerry in that final last year and now they are without McBrearty and Murphy is another year older (and slower).
Tyrone are no-where close to 5 in my view. Draw with Kildare (14th) and beat by Louth (13th), beat by Derry (10th) beat Cavan (16th) after a shaky start and I think it was more to do with Cavan giving up than Tyrone being great.
They've also lost key players, Myler and Harte for example. Morgan is playing badly too. I'd have them in 12th on current form.

Can't see us ahead of Donegal unfortunately just at the minute, haven't beat them in ages. Probably would have got over the line in Ulster last year if Rian had been playing but we didn't, but would expect any game against them to as usual go to the wire.

That "panel" is stretched to the last now between retirement, injuries and opt outs, just take a look at the named panel for the weekend, couple of cubs on the team and one or 2 older heads on the bench plus a pile of youngsters who are probably a year or 2 away yet.

That x factor quality in attack is fairly diminished with Rian and Soupy gone- currently I'd say Conaty and McQuillan have it and Grugan if he gets back to his top form, outside of that we've got a bunch of super lads who'll give everything and not be far away from any team, but just lacking that bit extra to get over the line on the biggest days. Defensively we're badly missing McKay, Mackin, Forker and McCambridge but going by Geezers comments they aren't a million miles away.

Looked back on this thread and the power rankings at this time last year had Kerry in 5th, Donegal 2nd, Tyrone 7th & Meath 11th

A lot of football to be played

How have Monaghan overtaken Down when they were beaten yet again and Down Won? Doesn't make sense.

And Derry dropped 2 places having been beat away by the Leinster champions. Falling below Tyrone who lost away to Leinster runners up and stayed 9th.

Louth are ranked lower than Derry or Tyrone so Derry would have lost more points for losing to a lower team than them, whereas Tyrone don't suffer as much for losing to a higher team. Not sure if home/away is factored in.

Lets hope 4 can beat 7 at the weekend!

Maybe it's calculated like Today FM's top 100 Irish songs ever..

the rankings by Laoisman on Boards.ie make some sense. One thing is notable, Connacht has 3 teams in top, and Ulster has only 2. A year ago, 4 Ulster teams would have been ahead of Roscommon.

A lot of stock being put on league games with that list.

Definitely. I wouldn't have Meath above Armagh or Dublin. If they prove it this year then fair play, but not at the minute.

In this system Meath had a high ranking from last year when they beat Kerry etc and they are winning games in Div 2 while Armagh are losing games in Div 1. However, both Dublin and Armagh played for a half at the weekend at a level that would challenge Meath.
