Judging by the odds Laois need not bother turning up. Who is in charge of Laois? are they poor or Kildare just very strong?

Kieran Kelly, had them last year as well. We wouldn't be expected to do much this year. Kildare minors got to the Leinster final 3 years ago.

Shocking odds. Kildare 1/40

1-13 to 0-01 at half time to Kildare. Bloody hell

Just in from the park Lord God Almighty if these young fellas are the future of football in the county we haven't got a prayer small badly trained and completely lacking in pride in the Jersey

In fairness to the players they had to endure that beating so it can't be easy on them either. None of us would want to be on the end of that. They still have to go out and play again. These days it's hard enough to get fella's to keep committing.

Never saw odds like that with a Laois team before.

Hopefully the work that is being done now will mean we don't suffer a similar fate in future years.

Unfortunately beatings like this for both underage football and Hurling teams are become commonplace and nobody seems to really care the county board who's jobs is to promote hurling and Football in the county does not give a toss if this happened in any other county that cares for the Gaa an emergency county board meeting would be  called and questions would be asked the only the thing  I can say for our present Chairman is he is top notch at pre senting medals at a dinner dance

Full round of junior hurling fixtures on sat same time as laois U20s play Galway where would you see it no interest at all in hurling..

That's nothing short of a joke. Possibly family members involved.

Wednesday night was tough but Kildare are very strong and would be hoping to go on and win honours with that group. Naas doing great work at school level which feeds into underage squads. We really need to have our schools in Knockbeg/Portlaoise/Port etc competing better than they are currently are. You'd hope this would be an area Shane Keegan will target.

Any word on what the minors are like?

A further issue towards the development of players is the complete lack of players involved in college teams. It was very noticeable this year out of the ten Sigerson squads that we essentially had two players, Roche (a mature student) and Heffernan at DCU. Even at the higher levels of freshers football we have very few players. People might have a different view of college football but it is an excellent level for players to improve. to see the increased number of players from similar counties like ourselves like Monaghan, Roscommon, Louth, Kildare, Offaly, Cavan and Meath recently making the squads is definitely reflected in their progression. Meath forming a GAA partnership with Maynooth University sports department which shows great forward thinking especially as the college is expanding its sports science programme and planning to build a massive facility there. A number of Meath players are also on sports scholarships there. Schools improving is only one small part , it really needs a better approach.

Another few hammerings today, wow, we are on a roll now,...are there any other grades that want to step up and take a hammering before the end of the month, maybe U15's U12's U9's U6's come on lets join the party.

The County Board must be very happy now as we are at a level of failure at all levels that they must feel very comfortable with.

Another sobering day in OMoore park where we go from here nobody knows feel sorry for the the players not nice been humiliated maybe county board will act but won't hold my breath

Sideline12

Just sick of it all, we must be one of the weakest county in Leinster now in football and hurling and that's in all grades from minor,u.20 and seniors, year in year out the Same Old Story.
It's so disappointing, frustrating, and sadness coming out of O,Moore Park now
Will it ever change ?

Blueforever

It can change look at our neighbours Offaly they got Michael Duignan in as chairperson and he drove change and Offaly football and hurling is in a far better place. Have we a similar type of leader I don't know we certainly don't have them on the county board all they are interested if getting themselves elected to all these little commities and it makes them feel important  If we could get the Likes of Critchley or Taylor involved in the hurling and Dempsey in the football and give them a free hand maybe things might improve but if we are waiting for them wasters in the County board to do anything things are not going to improve
