Baile Brigín 2

Amazing band who didn't record enough.

Early days, raw punk. Then much more melodic, but always searingly political.

London Calling is probably the best album to get started, best of both worlds.

Clash on Broadway is kinda a greatest hits. Chronological but with some rare stuff mixed in. Wouldn't be like them to just do a best of

BigGreenField

White man in Hammersmith Palias
Spanish Bombs
Coma Girl (this was a joe strummer solo run but its bloody class so it's included)

London Calling , oft covered never bettered and The Call Up, which seems very appropriate now

tonto1888

So many to pick from so here's my top 3 for the moment. Could well change in an hour
I fought the law
White riot
Tommy gun

joemo

The band I regret not seeing more than any other. Their first 3 albums are amazing, and it's hard to pick just 3 tracks.

White Man in Hammersmith Palais. Disillusionment with the punk scene, social commentary, reggae infused punk.

Guns Of Brixton - great lyrics and an ever better bassline (sampled on Dub Be Good To Me).

London Calling - apocalyptic.

Sean3

Police and Thieves
Rock the Casbah
London Calling

I wouldn't know much stuff from The Clash beyond the famous stuff. I stuck on Spotify in the car and it annoyed me where that had been sampled! Straight to He'll definitely has been sampled in a modern song but I'm refusing to Google it.

I was wrecking my head as to  why  that was released again in the 90's. Had to be  a Levi's advert . This was my first  awareness of the song

Yes a few older classic songs became hits again because of those Levi ads. The other big one was The Joker by Steve Miller Band and Stand by Me by Ben E King hit number 1 in late 80s.

Did it  not become no 1  because of the film?

There was also  Stilskin, basically just  a guitar riff, and that God awful Spaceman, by Babylon Zoo .

Blowitupref

Should I Stay or Should I Go
I Fought the Law
London Calling

All timeless classics
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

ziggy90

London Calling
Should I Stay or Should I Go
Rock the Casbah
Questions that shouldn't be asked shouldn't be answered
