His track record...
The park is currently named after Chaim Herzog who grew up in Dublin and later emigrated to Mandatory Palestine where he joined the Haganah Zionist Paramilitary Group in 1935. Herzog played a role in suppressing the Palestinian Revolution and served in the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) after the Nakba where he rose to the rank of Major-General.
He was the president of Israel from 1983-1993. His most famous political act came in 1975 while he was Israel's ambassador to the UN when he tore up a UN resolution that equated zionism with racism. His son, Isaac Herzog, is the current President of Israel and he visited the Rathgar Park with his family in 2018. Isaac Herzog has continuously sanctioned the ongoing genocide in Gaza. In December 2023 he was photographed signing artillery shells before they were fired into civilian populations in Gaza.

The Herzog family has been complicit in the oppression, displacement, murder and genocide inflicted on the Palestinian people since before the 1948 Nakba to the present genocide in Gaza

Tell me about his track record. You and most of the other morons here hadn't heard of him until about two days ago FFS.

here is the name calling... nothing to be said to the poster labelling people anti semitic when there is no evidence of it!!!

No one on this forum sought the change... people who played in the park sought the change... it was approved last July.. only since Zionist decided to bring it to the attention of the public...very few would know about it I'd say. everyday is a school day and no place should be beyond a name change..

people who didn't jump straight to anti semitic or 'full nazi' as one irish zionist called it have learned about the ethic cleansing etc. of Herzog.

Its a big world, so everyone are morons for not knowing the entirety of world history, matters come to light folk are allowed to research, was everyone pulling down statutes of slave traders also morons, you really think you are someone on here don't you.

But it's not the genocide that focused anyone's minds, it's the motion to rename the park.

As for the family history, why don't you read up on his own father?

What's moronic is miraculously managing to feel very strongly about a topic or individual you know absolutely nothing about. I was being facetious and generalising but I guess based on your post I was 100% correct when it comes to you. Skim reading wikipedia isn't research.

Also, we're not talking about "the entirety of world history". We're talking about a very, very famous Irish connection to what is probably the most polarizing conflict since WW2.

The ongoing genocide is nothing to do with Chaim Herzog. But sure isn't his son the current president and aren't all the lads ordering the murder and committing the murder his "buddies". But no, no there's nothing anti-semitic about it whatsoever.

Quote from: Hand of God on December 01, 2025, 05:49:15 PMI just find it strange that you are so vocal on Ukraine but so nonplussed when it comes to Gaza.

I do find it amazing. The fact you're so defensive about it is telling.

What's happening in Gaza is a on a completely different scale. That is why 100k+ people routinely take the streets across European cities for Gaza but don't for Ukraine. Can you explain that difference?

My first encounter with you you is when you were smearing and misrepresenting the Irish President as pro-Russian because she criticised NATO and the western political ideology, with very sound and good reason. She subsequently won a landslide election.

You have some extreme right wing views. The world is not the preserve of the west and people like you possess a very dangerous mindset.

Make peace, not war.

Who is non-plussed about Israel? There is no need to be so vocal about it on this board, 99.99% of posters are in agreement about what is happening there, including myself.

I am so vocal about Ukraine precisely because of murder enablers and Russian apologists such as yourself spreading Russian propaganda. So not only do you not care about the murder of Ukrainians, you enable the murderers.

You don't care about murder, you're not even pro-Palestinian, just anti-western. Palestinian suffering to you is just something to use to troll others about Ukrainian suffering. Sick.

p.s. Make peace, not capitulation leading to more war in 6-12 months time.

Who said anything about religion? We're talking about Jews here. That said, I'm sure a theological discussion with a towering intellect such as yourself would be enlightening for everyone.

Theres never a discussion with you, you make your point, someone disagrees and then you resort to insults.

Is Judaism not a religion?

We all know your thoughts on indiscriminate murder of innocents. I'd have figured you and the Israelis would make great bedfellows.

I feel strongly about posts calling people anti semitic when there is none..

it is Israel committing the genocide not all Jews.. it is their continuing treatment of the palestinans that likely drew attention to the park name...the plaque in the park names him as former president of Israel.

it was a football club that use the park that sought the name change in December 24 and it was approved in July.. only since Zionists called it anti semitic without evidence did it get media attention...

maybe if the park was named after his father then it wouldn't be an issue but it isn't.

why are you so exercised about it!!
