I see the mirror had a feature on the launch of the Spirit of Paul McGirr football jersey and a nice piece about the background of it all.

Jersey actually ,looks ok

Where can they be obtained?

10 years already.

having been at that match, i have to say one of the most chilling feelings i've had was when the news came through afterwards of the result of what seemed like a run of the mill clash that you'd see in any game. That incident coloured how i viewed football matches for a long time afterwards and young McGirr frequently comes to mind still when lads go down in similar circumstances.

Ditto, wasn't too far away from that tragic incident myself, and can only imagine how difficult it must also have been subsequently for the young Armagh keeper.
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

has any one got a picture of the jersey? would certainly think about buying one of them, especially if the proceeds are going to a good cause!!

I was at that game to and was stunned to hear that he had died. Like yourself, anytime I see someone go down now at a match, I always fear the worse.

10 years...... can't believe it.

yip I was just at the 21 when he scored and had walked to behind the goals when he failed to rise.  Still feel eeriness that is revisited when a hurt player goes down for a long time since.  A dark day for Tyrone football.

I was also at the game and it wasnt to I saw an ambulance leaving the ground that I realised something was wrong.  Really put the match in perspective even for someone the age I was then

Does anyone know if the money from the jerseys go to the trust or are they something just to help create a presence for the trust? I assume you can get them in o'neills shops can you?
I can't believe we are 10 years on from such an unfortunate incident.

fcuksake

Can't believe its 10 years.

Paul collided with the armagh keeper, whom I'm led to believe didnt play again for a considerable time after. Being an Armagh man, I would certainly buy one of these jerseys for this worthwhile cause.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

That was a sad day alright. I remember it well, was a tragic day for all concerned. Pauls family especially but also for the young Armagh keeper. Must be a hard thing to live with especially after what wasn't a cynical or brutal challenge. Very very sad for all concerned

Was parallel with it too myself, and the challange was totally innocuous. A 50/50 collision where-by Paul McGirr just got there first. It was one of those 'Kennedy moments',  sitting in the house later on, when th girl on the news mentioned a tragedy at a GAA match.

Hard to believe it's 10 years ago, credit to Tyrone GAA in general the way the memory of this young man has never been forgotten, and will always be celebrated
