Explosions in the Sky had some class instrumentals in the film Friday Night Lights.
Klaus Doldinger's score for Das Boot- the Germans do brooding music really well!!

A bit of a controversial one maybe , but  this scene is so well done.

Like an  short interlude  between all the madness in their day off .

Watching it again really does feel like  what was referred to in the film , that this was one day to just be free before all the  college, graduation,  jobs, responsibilities, mortgage etc begins.

Such a great film.

PS. Save Ferris

Always loved that scene myself, at the time I always felt that it was profound. Watching again there all I can see is the fear & pointlessness of it all in Cameron's eyes looking into that painting. I fear Cameron didn't live a fulfilling life and quite possibly killed himself.

The film Unleashed (with a soundtrack by massive attack) used Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 "Andante grazioso" as a thread through the film and plot

As an excerpt it's brilliant (the piece is the first of 3 movements)

**spoiler**

(Although if  you haven't seen Ferris Bueller  by  now , what the feck have you been doing?!)

I think the day off   was more about  Cameron than Ferris in the end. He was sick of being pushed around by his father, and  would stand up to him about the car. I  hope he went home and  punched him but  I'd say he  just stood up and let him know he wasn't taking no more  shit. That day  was the making of Cameron.

So he  probably finished school , went to college and  rarely came home to see his parents .

Then  a few years later , he ended up with Keanu Reeves on a  "bus that couldn't slow down ", as Homer Simpson called it.

If you haven't seen it , do it.

If you have seen it , this  tune might  bring you back to  that  heartbreaking final scene .
