Well he was obviously pissed off at Maxi nearly knee capping him and no free being awarded so he had a rush of blood to the head.

Spot on, how people here who have played any kind of sport cannot fathom the reaction of Rafael is beyond me, you see it at training every week when someone pulls a dirty one on someone else the victim usually sees red, natural human reaction.

So what you are both saying is it is alright to attempt a leg breaker of a tackle as long as you were adequately provoked?

Get real

Don't forget getting away with it because the intended victim managed to get out of the way.

Its not alright, of course not but you can understand why he reacted like he did as opposed to the Carragher incident where he just went in like he did purely unprovoked.

I'd imagine most people here aren't paid tens of thousands of pounds a week to be a sportsman
- maintaining discipline even when provoked would be demanded.

Anyway, Nani wants out apparently http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/mar/15/nani-manchester-united-move-italy

Completely irrelevent how much he earns.

Always thought he was an Ass-hole but this now seals it...What about the Liverpool fans singing about Munich ehh John  ::)

John Aldridge hits out at Manchester United fans at Liverpool yesterday
from Sportinglife

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has branded the Manchester United fans who sang vile chants about the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters at Sunday's Youth Cup tie at Anfield as "disgusting".

Three United fans were arrested and six ejected from the ground during the match, which the visitors won 3-2 from 2-0 down with both sides having a pair of players sent off.

"I have never seen anything like that before at a youth game and I never want to see anything like it again. It was disgusting," said Aldridge, who was in the team at Hillsborough when 96 Liverpool fans died in 1989.

"You get used to banter from United fans when they come to Anfield but to hear those songs about Heysel and Hillsborough was just horrible.

Aldridge added in the Liverpool Echo: "The level of abuse was absolutely sickening.

"There was evidently a group who had just come to cause problems and I felt sorry for the families in the Manchester United end who just wanted to watch a game of football."

A United spokesman said: "Singing songs about the Hillsborough and Heysel tragedies is disgraceful. We will deal harshly with anyone brought to our attention."

Bingo

I am sure if Aldo was asked about Liverpool "fans" singing about Munich he would say the exact same thing.

Is the United spokesman an Ass-hole too as he agreed with what Aldo was saying.

Horseshite comments from both though you come to expect that on this thread. Rafaels tackle on Lucas was mere milliseconds after Maxi tackled Rafael, there wasn't even time for the Ref to give a free never mind book Maxi.
There is no way Rafaels tackle was some sort of retaliation for Maxis tackle.
Its just a poor excuse from hypocritical United fans.

It is obvious from that comment that you have never spent much time on a competitive football pitch!   I have seen your type before. Best ignored.
Could you be more wrong I wonder.. :D
Believe me EC my playing soccer experience goes way beyond a Five a side kick about on a Tuesday night...Anyway not that that matters to someone giving a opinion.
Its a cop out to say he was retaliating to Maxis tackle as its simply not true, maybe he was fired up because of Carras tackle but not Maxis as it all happened in the same play seconds apart.
Nordie Tayto is shite

new devil

But he wasn't "asked" he tweeted of his own accord about the United fans singing those horrible songs
My point is why single the United fans out when they were both at it

On sunday? They weren't both at it. I think the point he was trying to make is that it was a FA youth cup match, a family day out and these united "supporters" had come to cause trouble with their songs and flares. If you read all his tweets you would also have noted he condemed any Liverpool supporters who sing such songs.

You're really looking to slate someone here for whatever reason, I don't know. May yourself feel better maybe.

Boycey

I'd would say Aldridge made shocking generalisations about United fans in his tweets on Sunday implying that all the fans there were chanting about Hillsborough/Heysel etc when in fact it was 20-30 impresionable teenagers who'd know feck all better. Everyone knows that there is a vicious undercurrent between both sets of supporters, his comments both on Sunday and in the Echo seem to suggest its one-sided.

Hes still on about last night, talking about the gulf in class between the supporters.

He tweeted in the last 24 hours asking Liverpool "fans" to stop singing Munich songs. As Bingo stated as well, they weren't both at it.

Oh you were at the game? I think i will take the word of fans who were actually at the game over someone who probably didn't no it was on until he came onto this discussion board
Slate Aldridge of coarse for his cheap shot at point scoring over the united fans, why would it make me feel better  ???

laoislad

So are you condoning what the United fans were singing? Just because scumbags from Liverpool sing songs about Munich then its a fair game?
Im sure Aldo would be the first to show up Liverpool "fans" for doing something similar.
What you are failing to understand is that Aldridge lived thru Hillsborough, he was on the pitch when it happened he went to the funerals he met the victims families, so of course he is gonna be a little pissed off when he hears a small group of scumbags singing songs about it.

Do whatever you want and believe who you like. For your info, the game was on telly and it was very clear what was been sung. I've seen comments on plenty of forums and they said the kop was full of families/kids etc and very little was sung all day, never mind any of these chants. Even one of the anfield stewards confirmed this on one of the forums. If you heard this from people at the game, it was likely they where involved in the chants, so they a great source.

Yea he must mean the way the United fans clapped of the injured Arsenal player on sat and the Liverpool fans booing Nani of the week before... or maybe he means the time they tried to knock over the Ambulance carrying Alan Smith to the hospital when he broke his leg again also booed of the field, full of class those supporters around Anfield Johnny!!
