LVG had already stated that he wouldnt be playing until the window had closed and all the transfer stuff was out of the way.
Either he will be away or staying at the club til the summer.

Not sure if I like the idea of him walking away from the club at the end of the season on a free but I guess that's the game they are playing.

It's a cost-benefit issue. E.g. if De Gea wins them the league and secures champions league qualification again, then the opportunity cost has already been more than covered.

Maybe last season but UTD will not want to be depending on De Gea to qualify for the C.L.

Sell him.

Agreed that he could be the difference of qualifying and not qualifying and understand the reason for keeping him, but I would of thought even from a business side of things to allow the contract to run down was not ideal. But then he was maybe offered something and didnt accept it knowing he would be out one way or other

Of course not ideal, but as is repeatedly mentioned on this thread, United can pretty much afford to do anything they want. They took a 20m hit on di Maria without blinking. They paid more than they had to for Fellaini without blinking. They spunked 30m on an injured and unproven Luke Shaw without blinking. If keeping de Gea for the year costs them 18-20m or so, and they think he's vital to success this year, then they'll do it.

United have always insisted that he wouldn't be sold without Ramos going the other way in return. Ramos is about to sign a new deal at Madrid and de Gea has shown no interest in staying at United. They have to decide whether to get what they can for him now or keep him, but keeping an unhappy, ahem, keeper might not be ideal.

More to the point, why haven't United but a striker and defender yet?  I expected two new players as well as Pedro by now.

f**k if that's the standard of Champions Sky Sports may shut up shop!!

Dire dire dire football. Hands down the worst 'philosophy' ever. United will lose fans to Arsenal if this shit gets served every weekend!

Calm down... Would you prefer champagne football and 2 draws??

It's week 2 of a 9 month season with quite a few players who have barely seen one another.  The rhythm won't come overnight and despite Sherwood's plan to be ultra defensive and give Utd no time on the ball, we could still have won by 2 or 3.  Depay showed well and was poorly serviced a few times as well as missing a couple.

Face facts lads.  We are not the Utd under Fergie.  It's obvious LVG is setting us up as hard to beat firstly while adding a multi £M strike force to win game 1 or 2 nil.  Bastian's main role is likely to be to come on while ahead to close up shop.

Be careful what you wish for!

Rooney was so bad in the Villa game that the British and Irish media actually noticed it. I would give him one last chance on Tuesday but regardless - a striker is badly needed.

They are not winning this years title, they need  blood the youngsters, James Wilson deserves a run, as done Januzai, if Wilson is the future then lets see him get a run as the focal point of the attack.

Rooney is mailing it in imo. The man needs a new challenge!

Spurs supposed to be getting Berahino. Does that mean Kane is on his way (hopefully to United)?

Seems United are going to lose out to citeh on Otamendi and Ramos is signing a new 5 year deal at Real.

Tim Vickery BBC South American football expert thinks Otamendi is perhaps a bit slow for the Premiership!
