Good original post from Yellowcard. Would agree with your list of players who should be got rid of, apart from Rafael and Smalling. The problem is that we might not be able to get rid of them all this summer...As for signing Edinson Cavani, i wouldn't. Reminds me of a rich man's Andy Carroll.

I'd go along with that plus I think Nani is a talented player (had a couple of awesome seasons and then reverted to frustrating and then just crap) who could get back to good form under a new manager. All your players in your squad can't be world beaters. Rafael would be a decent back up and I actually think Smalling is a very good defender. Poor with the ball but brave and when he gets a run at centre back looks fine usually.

Absolutely no need to bring in any forward player. Just keep the ones United have and sort out central midfield and the backs.

Would Utd fans really want Mourinho managing their club?

I think Van Gaal would be a better bet than Mourinho and as a short term option I think Van Gaal is the best man that is AVAILABLE. The only obstacle will be recruitment of players since he couldn't possibly take up the post whilst preparing the Dutch team for a world cup and so will lose valuable planning time.

I've no doubt that Mourinho could extract a lot more out of those players than Moyes got and with a few recruitments could have them back in the top 4 within a season. However Mourinho will do what is best for Mourinho and not necessarily what is best for Man Utd. To me he seems as though he is becoming increasingly paranoid and looks battle scarred and a bit fed up of management.   

I can't see Mourinho leaving Chelsea after one season on his return, why would he, Diego Costa looks set to join them next season and that will give them some fire power. Utd are closing in on a few of the transfer targets regardless of who is there next season , saw on Twitter thats the players that have been idenifed have been discussed with Van Gaal ,so it seems likely he will get the job.

If you seen it on twitter it must be true then!! Im sure any potential signings if they are signing for footballing reasons, would like to speak to the new manager and find out his plans before committing to signing for the club. If they sign before a manager is appointed you would have to question are they signing for financial reasons and also exactly who is sanctioning the signings presuming that the potential manager is still under contract.

I can't see Mourinho leaving Chelsea this summer either but I would be surprised if he is still there in a year or twos time. Diego Costa is flavour of the month at the minute and is a good player but his achievements don't merit the £50m price tag mentioned. Both Shevchenko and Torres had achieved much more in the game when they arrived at Chelsea but look how they fared out. It's hard for a striker to thrive in a Mourinho set up due to the structured and rigid football they play.

Twitter or not, Utd are lookin to appoint a manager before the WC and also have some  transfer deals complete before then . It would make sense to disuss the deals with him as obviously he will be tied down with Holland. Woodword is apparently in Portugal where Van Gaal is on holidays to discuss the William Carvalho transfer.

Nearly everyone that has been attached to the job has ruled themselves out except Van Gaal. I think it is his job and will be surprised if he is not the next manager.

Van Gaal probably wanted commitment and I am sure he has given some form of commitment in return.

Well they are hardly going to admit either player was leaving with 4 games of the season left. See what happens at the end of the season. Likwise with Carvalho
