Are people really that thick?  Everyone who knows a bit is aware that United had Liverpool, Chelsea and City in their first few games of the season therefore it would have been pretty fortunate to be riding high with this fixture list.  United now have a good run without any big games to play, the points will stack up and this time 6 or 7 weeks United will be at the top of the league.

Until they play someone decent again.

Of course they will but United start to this season has been unsually lop sided towards playing the bigger games basically in consecutive weeks at the start of the season.  The average fixture list for United or any other team wouldn't pan out like this, thats why I can't understand certain people thinking United are in dire straights due to their current league position.  The league table is meaningless for the first couple of weeks, not reflective of how a season is going to develop.  Come November or Christmas, things become clearer.

Guys its not even been the results that have been concerning for United fans, it has just been the way the team have been playing. Lack of confidence and no spark going forward, without Rooney in an attacking sense we are toothless, everything goes through him and while he played well last night, Liverpool were able to cut him off at source more often than not last night.

Hopefully now a run of games to build the confidence few good results, DM can get to know the players better and get the system going again properly.

Any listen to Neville at HT last night, he is very tactically astute, while maybe not the most popular, definitely a good and interesting listen.

I see this thread is busy again
It was very quiet there for a few days at the start of the week

The team is obviously lacking creativity which would be my major problem at the minute.  Januzaj and Kagawa look really good from a creative sense so they should get more games.  I would have Nani ahead of Valencia or Young every day of the week too.  Rooney has looked very good, seems to have got that zip in his legs back and is gliding by opponents a lot more than he had done last season.

They would still have expected to get more than 1 point from the 6 and score more than 1 goal in the process though (which came when they were 4-0 down)? Fergie won more big games than he lost. Moyes has yet to win one. Utd are rarely held scoreless, and have been twice already.

Haven't even played the top 2 yet either.

Of course they would expect more but its not a completely unusual return from Chelsea and City games.  City have actually a great record against United since they came back to the Premiership and have beaten United quite a few times pre and post moneybags era.

Indeed but the lack of goals and average performances wouldn't usually happen so often in big games, even if they are close together fixture wise this season. Not a dig just a point on yours. I have no doubt Utd will push on this season, probably finisher higher than us, just have been unusually poor in big games thus far.

They all start somewhere, I remember a wee skinny Portugese boy having a decent wee cameo against Bolton ten years ago and he turned out alright.

I remember David Bellion looking good for Sunderland causing United to buy him. Impossible to say at this stage.
