United had a couple of cracking passages of play in the first, otherwise a poor enough half.

Don't get the the Schweinsteiger love in amongst United fans, Young would be much most deserving of a game...

Terribly dull stuff thus far..

He was motm for me.

Wished he'd have been at Utd 10 years ago

Didn't know you spent your days at Carrington making such decisions! 😉

I despise the idea of any additional technology being used unless it can be used for everything. It creates a hierarchy of rules and results in even greater injustices when a team is on the wrong end of an unreviewable decision.

Take for example the case of the goal being scored from a cross that swings out of play before coming back into play. Why is a ball that can only be said to be over the goal by use of a camera be any more deserving of the use of technology than that?

I know I'm in the minority on this one but I really think technology should be kept out of the game as long as possible. Don't even get me started about GAA matches being played under different rules depending on where the game is taking place.

GAA matches already are played under different rules depending on age group, geographical location, whether it's at Croke Park or not, and various other factors.

Compare what is blown up in a reserve League game versus Croke Park All Ireland final.

Great to see Schweinsteiger get a start. Hope he plays well.

Assist for the break through goal and a goal himself is not bad.

The Stallion

Schweinsteiger was finished a few years before Utd bought him. Not up to it at the top level any more.

Correct, but he still has something to give and very nice to have in reserve when battling on 4 fronts.   In the next 45 days United have 15 games.

That could be their downfall. Would of done no harm to be knocked out today.

Agree with Stew - thought Schweinsteiger was man of the match. He still has plenty to offer, looks in great shape and hopefully Mourinho has finally eaten humble pie (yet again) and accepted that the "Einsteins" were right. As for why Schweinsteiger gets so much respect from United fans - how many players would have accepted his disgraceful treatment and kept working to get back into the first team squad. Many players who wouldn't be fit to tie his laces would have thrown the toys out of the pram. Other notable things from todays game - how bad is Rooney? Awful. Shaw's confidence is low but he looks in good shape. Rojo playing well at centre back. Martial did well on the left, was poor through the middle. Mkhitaryan is a joy to watch.

Hull game on Thursday really annoyed me. Mourinho's talk about fixtures with the most expensive squad in the world at his disposal really grates. He sent them out with some sort of containing gameplay which totally backfired and left United hanging on against a club in total crisis. They got humped today. His 28 second interview post game was more of his bull. The more he gets annoyed the more refs will continue to avoid awarding penalties or tight decisions to United.

Lol at the praise for accepting his "disgraceful treatment". He's raking in millions for little or no work, a finished player rightly being left out of the side. I'm sure he cries himself to sleep every night. On a pillow stuffed with banknotes.

I was led to believe that the anonymity toward Schweinsteiger came from the players who didn't think much of him when he declared himself unfit for half a season so that he would be ready for Euro 2016, where he was guaranteed a place on a strongly favoured German team. United's season had gone by then.
Maybe that has thawed with players and management when they have seen that he is willing to make a go of it at United, something that I would say Mourinho is managing quite nicely...

Seem to remember him playing (a key and controversial role) in the cup quarter final replay away to West Ham which would have been last March so that story doesn't stack up.

Mourinho treated him disgracefully and has belatedly admitted his mistake.
