Mourinho hasn't a clue what he's doing here. He's afraid to play his usual negative shite and is playing a hodge Podge formation which lacks balance and solidity. Rooney is the single biggest problem and for such a tough guy manager to be afraid to drop his is laughable.

Mourinho may be mindful of the backlash he received for dropping Sir Terry de Lionheart at Chelsea. Even the sections of the English media normally hostile to Utd will be up in arms when Rooney gets binned. Some swarthy Latin type telling us that the poster child for English football is not good enough.

Beyond that United have enough of a squad on paper to be challenging. There seems to be something lacking in terms of leadership or an on-field enforcer to drive the team on at crucial stages.

On paper, Manchester United should not be losing against Watford and that is no disrespect to Walter Mazzarri's side, who played with courage and conviction to win 3-1 at Vicarage Road. There is something not quite right in the United team at the moment, beyond the problems that Mourinho identified, which included an acknowledgement that they are too passive defensively at times and, in the case of some individuals, unable to take responsibility when results and performances are poor. The midfield seems to lack the right balance, with Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini imposing figures but not controlling and dictating games. There were times against Watford when Wayne Rooney was dropping deeper than the pair of them, for reasons only he knows. Should one of the deep-lying midfield roles not be filled by a more accomplished passer, such as Daley Blind, who lost his place at centre-half against Watford, Michael Carrick or Morgan Schneiderlin? Carrick reads the game better than Fellani and passes better, this is not to say the Fellani is to blame i think he is doing his best in a difficult situation.

Rooney is conpletely lost at the moment doesnt seem to know where to be or what to do.  His basic skills are desserting him with his obvious lack of confidence.

Still think when JM gets the balance and formation correct and gets a settled 11 the talent is there to put a serious run together.

Have to agree with this, Carrick makes Utd tick over and if his legs are gone surely Blind is a better option on the ball in Midfield than Fellaini.
