If I were Pep I'd take the Man Utd job and plough salt into the Old Trafford turf. Seriously, would restoring Man Utd to their former glory not be a more intriguing challenge than taking over Man City?
You'd like to think intruiging challenges would rank highly, but I'd bet he'd choose City for the extra money and the higher probability of success!

He went to Bayern knowing that success was guaranteed (i.e. 90% chance of winning the league) and that CL success would be an added bonus.

Perhaps, but while Barca, Bayern and the two Manchester clubs are all minted, only one of the four isn't among Europe's most storied clubs (hint as to which one isn't: it's Citeh.)

pullhard

All set up nicely for Jose to come in and win the league now.

Maroon Manc

Plenty of reds want him but there the same people moaning about the football now.

History doesn't entitle a club to anything. City and PSG don't need stories. 3rd division playoff is fine. Money calls the shots.
Look at AC Milan now.

City and PSG want stories. If you think otherwise, you really have no idea what you are talking about.

Its what they crave and don't have...

City and PSG could win Leagues and Champions Leagues from now til the end of time and they'll never be as storied as the likes of United, Liverpool, AC, Barca etc

Sadly for them that's the harsh reality..

There are 2 funding models for soccer. Open chequebook a la city and cash cow as per Man Utd. Man City have a long history anyway.
Liverpools stories only go back 40 years. Surely a team that wins 3 European cups over the next 10 years will develop its own stories or am I missing something?

You're moving away from your idea that 'City and PSG don't need stories'. Yes, winning three European Cups in ten years will create stories. But Mourinho didn't manage one in seven seasons at Chelsea while Man City have had some truly risible tilts at it so far. I really think that if the jobs at Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea were all available and you had your pick of them, as Guardiola would, it would be diminish your legacy to go anywhere but Old Trafford. That, in my opinion, is what you are missing.

PSG and City could, like Chelsea win A champions league... Once!! To win it multiple times is debatable....

I love the wind ups and the banter but the truth is football is way way over rated for the money they get!! Looking to take my dad later in the new year, but would enjoy a night Galway!!

I dont think PSG care about history. Man City probably dont either.
Glory Glory Man Utd but Guardiola would be nuts to ignore the pernicious influence of the Glazers.

When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Milltown Row2
