laoislad, could you please reproduce the post where i actually said that United were going to sign Benatia.. I did say last Saturday evening that they could do with signing him, but there's a big difference in that and saying that they are going to sign him.. Maybe someone could explain it to you.

Stop biting ffs, these lads are getting serious mileage off the back of last season and what's to come, and hey ya know what, it's been coming, and with all these new signings and systems to bed in, it could take at least 10/12 games before some sort of decent results happens. Stay low and don't bite  :-X
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

I watched Roma probably half a dozen times last year(mostly at the start of the year to watch Strootman) and never noticed him to be honest, mind you a centre half isn't exactly always going to stand out if your teams not under pressure.

At the time Roma were on something like a 9 or 10 game winning streak and keeping a lot of clean sheets.

Rojo looked like a great player at the World Cup and will be a good signing for Man Utd. However that was as a left back, the question is will Van Gaal play him at left back or as part of a back 3. I'd say they will be relieved to get rid of Nani.

Left side of the back 3 I'd say.

Nani signed a 5 year deal in September 2013, while he didn't deserve a lenghty deal like that, he hardly thought he would be shipped out less then a year later.

It was a ludicrous contract to award a player who never convinced at Man Utd apart from a few fleeting moments early in his career. Apparently Man Utd are paying his wages whilst he is on a year long loan at Lisbon, so effectively it is costing them £5-6m to have no access to their own player for a season.

Odd transfer scenarios unfolding on this thread (and maybe in the real world too, who knows).

I'm not quite sure why any team would pay £30m for Luke Shaw, then go any buy an established international (Blind) who plays in the same position. That's what I would call a waste of money. It's not like

As for Angel Di Maria, he is a lovely footballer, but United need him like they need David Moyes back.

Central defenders and central midfielders is the problem.

Blind actually plays a lot in midfield for Ajax, people see him in the WC and assume he is just a left back. He was the best player on the pitch for Ajax last weekend in centre of midfield.
United need a decent player on the wing - not sure what is odd about that. Nani is gone. Zaha wont be in Van Gaals plans. Young is erratic, Valencia solid if not spectacular, so just Januzaj as the real bit of class

Of course they need a centre defender, thats been mentioned already.

Re the Rojo deal, United will pay an initial 10 million euros, of which 4M
goes to Spartak Moscow. Then two further payments of 5M each. Rojo was
named in the team of the World Cup.

Find that one a bit hard to believe.  It's normal to pay the top up if the player's wages are higher than others at the club but can't see him going their for free at United's expense.

The only reason i could see Utd paying his wages while he's there is basically as another payment towards the club e.g if his pay is 2 million while there Utd pay it rather than put another 2 million on top of the transfer fee as Moscow and the company that own rights to Rojo would be entitled to a cut.?

Either that or Van Gaal thinks he's an awful asshole and will disrupt the camp and just wants rid any way he can. Either way i'm happy enough he's gone  :D

Nani gone back to Portugal. Thank feck.

Good to see Rojo in to hopefully strengthen the defence. Still need more signings of high quality for midfield. Not sure if they are coming though! Vidal would be massive but going by what is on the net Utd have shown no interest so far. Must be afraid of the Knee!

"The Glazers have no plans to sell Manchester United in the near future, with the club's controversial American owners determined to be in place for at least the next five years. With United currently experiencing exponential growth commercially the Glazers are content with the direction of the club, according to high ranking sources at Old Trafford, with the aim to continue marrying the on-field success of recent years with the expansion of its global profile"

As long as the money comes rolling in they won't care about league position.
Did Biddy Earley also curse Man Utd ?
