You would've thought when Swansea seen a back 5 of Lingaard, young, jones, Smalling, Blackett, young they would be have rubbing their hands

Huh?? But a Utd fan told me a matter of weeks ago that United DIDN'T lack experience at the back... Strange!!!

If that comment is aimed at me you are rewriting our conversation ever so slightly... Have you ever thought of becoming a tabloid journalist?

I couldn't remember who it was but yeah it was aimed at you... I haven't changed anything I said United's squad was weak/inexperienced. You said loads had Winner medals etc. but the bottom line still remains they lost 3 very good experienced players and bar Evans the defence is massively inexperienced!!

Saturday's performance would seem to back up what I'm saying

Noticed this tweet earlier. Not sure if it is true or not but would not be surprised. Makes you wonder if there is actually any money in the pot?

QuoteOut of the 92 clubs in the football league, Manchester United are 91st in terms of number of signings, Exeter City have made fewer #MUFC

Shrewdness

Seems as if the Rojo deal is edging nearer to completion. Part of the deal will see Nani going the other way on loan for the rest of the season... Have seen ''speculation'' this evening that Cuadrado could stay at Fiorentina and that Benatia could stay at Roma...At this stage of the window, you would have to seriously question just how big United's transfer budget really is. Everyone knew that a major overhaul was needed, but what have we had?.. Look at the way Chelsea, Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool etc identified their targets and got their business done. United lost Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Buttner and Giggs for a total of about 5.5m.. Only two players have come in.. The fact that the end of the window is in sight shows that either the budget is smaller than Woodward claimed, or else the whole transfer situation is being handled with a stunning incompetence, or else playing a game of brinkmanship with other clubs.. The next 12 days will tell us which scenario it is.

Jeepers Creepers

Utd will need to sign more than Rojo for their defence. A critical period in utds history right now and Woodword seems to be making a royal balls of it.

Benatia could stay at Roma

Where did the story linking him to Utd come from? Bayern in for him too so either way can't see him lining up alongside Jonny Evans.

Over the Bar

QuoteAccording to @Jan Hagen, Portuguese football journalist Utd and Sporting are closer to an agreement over Rojo. Sporting want to include either Nani or Anderson in the deal.

Hardly a deal that needs much consideration!   Anderson's barely worth part exchange for Flo-Jo for heaven's sake never mind Rojo!!

Rojo deal nearly complete.

United's transfer policy in recent years hasn't been the best

Would not disagree that it has been the best period for transfers in the clubs history. However this does not take into account the players that have left on a free or that have retired in recent years. United's policy of developing and retaining the likes of Giggs, Scholes and even Neville meant that they were shifting these guys on toward the end of their careers. Even for £8m-10m. Along with Rio & Vidic would have brought the difference down.

I think Gary Nevilles point on Sky was more apt, for what the club have spent recently highlights the players they could have got into the club for similar over all spend.

I think though that is probably the point that maldini is trying to get across. Obviously the nett spend allows for the sales of vidic etc but in 5 years the club has the second highest nett spend and seems to be getting further away from the top teams. Maybe the transfer budget is there maybe not but if you were a top player and you watched them getting turned over by Swansea at home would you want to join it?
