Jeepers Creepers

By the way any manager can become available regardless of contracts, all they have to do is resign. I would say there a few more names around the globe other than the paltry list going around that would be interested. A chance to manage one of the biggest clubs in the world and get a huge transfer budget immediatley!? Come on.. I would say there are a few contracts getting the fine tooth comb treatment at the minute.

Muppet, if you check my post about Giggs, you'll see that i said ''Interim'' manager. You highlighted it yourself. What i'm saying is that Giggs might be asked to steer them through the last four games untii the permanent manager takes over in the summer. The leading contenders all have jobs at the moment, and will hardly leave them until the season is over.

I saw 'Interim' and tbh I am astonished that you were right.

While he was a really great player in his day, I have seen nothing whatsoever to suggest management ability, never mind Man Utd manager. Even if they have written off this season it is a daft appointment in my view and signals the sense of panic behind the scenes.

Regarding the choice of Giggs, presumably it is because he is the longest serving player? For me Vidic might have commanded some respect within and outside the club. I even think Ferdinand, who I don't have huge respect for either, has played under lots of different managers for club and country and would have been a better choice. (Wales doesn't compare - especially when you look at his relatively paltry 64 caps - Roy Keane who was maligned for his commitment to Ireland has more caps than the evergreen Giggs).

Gary Neville must be regretting his retirement.

Ferdinand as a manager!??!! The man comes across as being daft as a brush at times. If he had concentrated on improving his own abject performances this season rather than trying to undermine Moyes on twitter he would have been better served. I think he would have a better chance of starring in the village panto than of becoming Man Utd manager.

He is starring in the village panto. This is the club that has just appointed Ryan Giggs interim manager.

Giggs is the only Utd player current or past with the Uefa A Pro licence badge, so temporary interim manager shouldn't be an issue..

I wonder was Ferguson consulted over the decision to sack Moyes, would be very surprised if he was. This surely casts doubts over Ferguson remaining as a director at the club.

In fairness all Moyes backroom staff bar Woods and Neville got shown the door too, so there is not really anyone else there to take over. In reality it was between Giggs and Neville on first team coaching staff and I suppose Giggs a bit prettier for the post match interviews.

At least this way any appointment could be wrapped up before the world cup; otherwise it will run on all summer.

I would be shocked if (a) he wasn't consulted and (b) didn't agree with it.

QuoteI think it would have looked more professional, from a PLC point of view, to have kept Moyes for the 4 games and do business behind closed doors in the closed season.

I think the problem is this years closed season involves the world cup. If you are to out and buy a new team your likely to get better value before the world cup so they will need a new person in come May.
They get momentum, they go mad, here they go

I had written a longer post but the board crashed.

Any here goes again.

According to this Guardian article, Giggs only started his 18 months course with Neville last month.

Also here is a selection from the list of UEFA Pro Licence qualified coaches (NB The FA hasn't published a list for the period 2010 - present)

2009
Mike Phelan

2008
Roy Keane

2006
René Meulensteen

2005
Bryan Robson

2004
Mark hughes
Joe Jordan

2003
David Platt

Actually, scratch the above, it looks as if Giggs' course started before last month.

Here he is doing his media training last January:

QuoteUefa A Pro licence badge

No such thing - the Pro Licence is what's needed for a permanent manager.  I imagine Giggs has been doing his UEFA A course and assessment and has started the Pro Licence course - professional footballers of a certain level are exempted from the normal coaching pathways; in Ireland (Airtricity League) they usually have to start at UEFA Youth Cert.  I'd imagine someone with Giggs' experience probably started at UEFA A, rather than B.

The Pro license trumps the Uefa A and B licenses.
Giggs doesn't even have his Pro licence yet.
There are a number of ex players who have the Pro licence.
I don't know what this licence is you think Giggs has! Does it even exist??

Moyes was United's shortest serving manager since 1927. He waited at Carrington this morning to personally wish all the players good luck for the future.. Reports that United officials met Van Gaal 10 days ago...Any chance of some coaching role for Paul Scholes?

If he came back playing he'd be better than the lampshade!
