Building some kind of Radar would be a start, NASMAS, Patriots, underwater detection maybe even a Frigate. All those things would be too expensive I imagine and take at least 10-15 years to procure. Still you can spend all this money but modern American, Chinese, Russian and British SSBNS are incredibly capable, difficult to detect and unfortunately you are still relying on the Brits to try and shadow any Russian ones.

1. Should the armed forces of Ireland resist with the weapons available to them and those provided to them by allies?

2. 'Ordinary citizens' confront the tanks? Without weapons of course so there is no 'escalation'?
