Do you believe him though?

Like Geoghan saying the Revenue owe him money and his animal cruelty convictions weren't anything to do with him, there is a credibility gap with these wingnuts

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on April 12, 2026, 02:01:03 PMDoing it for the people by blocking the people daily routines. Bit like flag protests, out for themselves. I didnt see any protests with food prices rocketing past 3/4yrs. Plus not 1 word of protesting at Trumps Golf course, or US/Israel embassys who caused the recent rocketing fuel and oil prices.
Them and Shannon should be hit next.

Not a hope of that happening when the majority of those flag waving idiots are big fans of Trump.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on April 12, 2026, 10:34:19 AMSeemingly the Dublin elites are agin the protesters and the country folk love them...
I got the Dart now hassle while down home the people have sat in traffic for hours because they are commuters.
They are spending the weekend trying to see what forecourt has fuel to get them to work on Monday.

So any notions that there is support for blockades is gone.

Eddie Hobbs interviewed a lad who was five sheets to the wind on X. Patriots on a jollier.

Then beer bellied lugs shouting at 'Garda' traitors tell you all you need to know about them.
I did a random sample of profiles associated with comments on Facebook yesterday and unsurprisingly most of the supporters in the sample are simpletons, layabouts (the Muslims have taken all the jobs), Covid deniers, racists and oul dolls with photos of dogs as their profile pic. DJT would call them low IQ people.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Government will now extend temporary measures to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel and marked gas oil from the end of May to the end of July.

There will be a 10 cent reduction per litre on both diesel and petrol.

There will be a 2.4 cent reduction per litre on marked gas/oil.

The increase on carbon tax will be postponed from May until the Budget in October.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

From the Bunker

I used to wonder at various groups in society who were taken advantage of and let things pass. How could this happen? Most of the time it happens because people in the main want an easy life and don't want to rock the boat.

This happened in the North for years. People made the best of a bad situation until they were pushed to the brink and even then many sat on their hands and hoped for the best.

There is a difference between an extra 25 quid on a tank of fuel and what happened in the North.

Probably more indicative of life in the south tbh.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on April 12, 2026, 11:19:24 AMThat's the thing. The groups, including Construction Federation, should have all come together and done a media blitz spelling all this out.
This machine costs X to run. And then link it to house building in a housing crisis.

To be fair - how much heat would the "meeja" put on the government if it was all spelled out through press  releases, (would they even report it?!?) and there was no sense of an iron fist in the velvet glove? What would then result?

While I don't really agree with the protest, politicians utter derision for all other routes of feedback means things like this (and the rise of the far right) are unfortunately inevitable.

Continually ignore folks' concerns and they'll find someone who'll at least pretend to listen.

but they did not ignore the concerns, they had already cut fuel duty and they always said that they might do more.
Oil has gone up in price, Ireland is poorer as a result. Some people think that taxes should be rearranged so that they do not suffer and the burden falls on someone else, but that is always a balancing act for any government.
