I have a lot of sympathy for people when you hear about the increases in the costs of running their business due to increased diesal costs. I think some temporary relief is needed. I am no fan of FFG.

However, I don't agree with the far right element, the scamdemic, foreigners get all our money, im speaking on behalf of the irish people, non stop posters of shit on social media gobshites. I dont agree with the long term use of blockade.

I dont understand why they haven't targeted the independents (boxer, healys raes etc. who could have stong bargaining powers to influence the govt or bring them down if needed.

also, what are their plans for the next macro economic event that triggers increased costs, if the business model isn't sustainable or is subject to uncontrollable external factors how will they insulate themselves from it.

Intimidation...who'd have thought...

Whitegate oil refinery

Fuels for Ireland said that it hopes to be able to get around 20 oil trucks into the Whitegate oil refinery today.

It said seven went in on convoy earlier and that it is hoped to do that number two more times before the end of the day.

However, CEO Kevin McPartlan warned that some drivers are reporting intimidation.

He said one of the fuel tanker drivers told his company that he was recognised by a protester, and his wife was then subsequently intimidated online because her husband was driving into Whitegate site.

Last night in Dublin a group of Muslim women who provide homeless people with hot meals were abused by a group of "protestors" waving tricolours.

Meanwhile a load of tractors driving round Longford today.
I didn't see any Government Ministers or TDs being held up, just ordinary people.

Eagerly awaiting the cries of "tyranny".
One would expect tyranny at an oil despot.

Oh that's very good.

https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2026/0411/1567669-fuel-protests-ireland/Meetings between Government minsters and sectoral representatives of hauliers famers, fishers and agribusinesses groups have finished for the day.

Talks focused on finalising details of a new package of Government supports to address the fuel crisis.

Included among those supports will be a fuel support scheme under which participants will receive direct payments.

Various representative bodies met with ministers in the Department of Transport and the Department of Agriculture as part of the continuing efforts to hammer out a new Government package to deal with soaring fuel costs.

This evening, ministers who took part in the talks will meet with the Taoiseach and Tánaiste to discuss progress.

Details of the overall package have not been revealed, but it will include a fuel support scheme to assist hauliers, farmers and contractors who will be supported with direct payments.

Quote from: Armagh18 on April 11, 2026, 11:16:06 AMTypical our resident gobshite and FFG bootlicker would be the first two to comment.

Even a pair of simpletons like yourselves can see that while the government didn't cause this they could resolve it today. Instead Mehole was in the White House a few weeks ago kissing Trumps arse.
What is 'it' and how?

He genuinely doesn't realise his beloved protesters were infiltrated immediately, if not in advance, by UDA adjacent flag knobs. But the Gardai, who pussyfooted around for a week, are the Tans?
