Agreed. Plenty that did similar have served time in prison.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

If we were locking people up for fights in nightclubs there wouldn't be much room left in prisons.

Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

He got away with a warning but if his anger erupts again he will pay the full price.
He will probably be unmercifully sledged over the summer

FOUR-TIME All Star hurler Kyle Hayes is due back in court after being charged with dangerous driving.

The Kildimo man was arrested in Mallow on Sunday, July 14, after being pulled over by gardai. It is alleged he drove at up to 150kmh (93mph) in a 100kmh (62mph) speed zone.

It is understood Mr Hayes was making his way back from Cork to Limerick at the time.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that gardaí in Mallow arrested a man for an alleged road traffic offence on Sunday, July 14.

"The man, aged in his 20s, has since been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear at Mallow District Court at a later date.

"As this matter is now before the courts there is no further information available. Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.

The offence is contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act 1961. If a person is convicted of dangerous driving, they could be fined up to €5,000, or be sent to prison for up to six months, or both.

Mr Hayes received a two-year suspended sentence in March for two counts of violent disorder after he was found guilty following a trial at Limerick Circuit Court. The incidents occurred inside and outside the Icon nightclub in Limerick city in the early hours of October 29, 2019.

The jury found Mr Hayes not guilty of assault causing harm.

The five-time All-Ireland winner was being spoken of as a potential Hurler of the Year before Limerick's defeat to Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final.

It is not known if the case against Mr Hayes, who is on station bail, will be up in court prior to the courts' summer recess in the month of August.

Fúckin hell, you'd think he'd keep out of bother for a good while considering the recent press on his previous activities in beating lumps out of someone.

Mustn't be the sharpest tool in the box.

Limerick stalwart Graeme Mulcahy calls time on county career

After 16 seasons as a Limerick senior hurler, Graeme Mulcahy has called time on his inter-county career.

The corner-forward was part of the side that ended a 45-year wait for All-Ireland success in 2018 and went on to win four more Celtic Crosses, as well as seven Munster titles.

The 34-year-old made his senior Treaty debut against Kilkenny in the 2009 Allianz Hurling League. He was a regular in the side for the provincial win against Cork in 2013, a season where he was nominated for an All-Star.

He was recognised with said award in 2018, this after contributing to Limerick's long-awaited Liam MacCarthy success, with a tally of 1-02 in the final against Galway.

For his club Kilmallock, Mulcahy has notched up four county titles and a provincial medal.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after Limerick completed a six in a row in Munster last June, Mulcahy credited some of the new class with keeping the older players on their toes, when saying. "We're constantly changing in terms of approaching each game differently, there are different players making different impacts.

"I'd be used to featuring a lot, you can see the likes of Adam English and Shane O'Brien coming to the fore more, Cathal O'Neill as well. A lot of the youth coming through, that constant transition, building as we go.

"You're always looking over your shoulder, it's been like that for as long as I can remember."

Commenting on his retirement, Mulcahy told limerickgaa.ie: "To have been entrusted to represent Limerick by the numerous management teams and sharing the dressing room with all my past and current team-mates has been a great honour. I leave with fantastic memories, lifelong friends and an immense pride in what we have achieved.

"The highlight of my playing career was undoubtedly being apart of the team that ended the 45-year wait to bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to Limerick. Coming back to the county with the Cup is something I will treasure forever. I will always be very grateful to John and his management team for allowing me to play a part in that.

"I would like to thank my club Kilmallock GAA, fellow club players, coaches and mentors for their support. I am also extremely grateful to the Kilmallock National School, Kilmallock Utd. and the wider Kilmallock community for your encouragement and guidance from a young age. It has been a privilege to represent the town."

He had some career. He was always a real talent but he really upped it a gear when the Limerick glory run started.
Happy retirement!

Could still end up missing championship, but most likely not.

Says in the article his oul fella totally relies on him to run the dairy farm, understandable bearing in mind his other boys are somewhat indisposed for the time being.
